BYD's luxury subsidiary, DENZA, is officially entering the European and UK markets. The debut flagship electric vehicle, the DENZA Z9 GT EV, will be unveiled in Europe in April 2026, with pre-orders in the UK beginning the same week. The vehicle is billed as a "fast-charging revolution," claiming to be able to charge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. However, its overseas price is more than three times higher than its Chinese counterpart, sparking widespread public interest.

The DENZA Z9 GT was unveiled in China in March 2026 with a claimed CLTC range of 1,036 km (644 mi), earning the title of "the world's longest-range electric vehicle." The European market launch utilizes the WLTP standard, with an official maximum range of 599 km (372 mi). A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version is being launched alongside the electric version. Both models are equipped with BYD 's second-generation Blade Battery and fast-charging technology, supporting a maximum charging power of up to 1,500 kW.

According to official data, the fast charging system follows the principle of "Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold +3": at normal temperatures, recharging from 10% to 70% takes only 5 minutes; a full charge from 10% to 97% takes 9 minutes; even at an extremely low temperature of -30 °C, recharging from 20% to 97% takes only 12 minutes (3 minutes longer than under normal conditions).

The DENZA Z9 GT is available in two powertrains: fully electric and plug-in hybrid. The electric version features a 122.49 kWh battery and a three-motor system, delivering a combined maximum output of 850 kW (1,140 hp) and peak torque of 1,210 Nm. The car's dimensions are 5,195 × 1,990 × 1,480 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. Its positioning places it in competition with the Porsche , Panamera , and Taycan .

In the UK, the electric version starts at £105,000 (around $140,000), while the hybrid version starts at £95,000 (around $126,500). In Germany and France, the electric version starts at €115,000 (including VAT, around $134,500). By comparison, in China, the car starts at just 269,800 yuan (around $39,300), making it approximately 3.1 times more expensive abroad.

To strengthen its premium image, DENZA invited former James Bond actor Daniel Craig to participate in the European launch. BYD Executive Vice General Manager Li Lin noted, "The launch of the DENZA Z9 GT in Europe marks a significant milestone in the brand's globalization. This vehicle combines cutting-edge technology, aesthetic design, and an emotive driving experience—and serves as a platform to promote BYD's fast-charging technology, 'Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold +3,' within  the framework of the BYD Global Auto Show."

It's worth noting that the DENZA Z9 GT is currently in the pre-order phase and has not yet been delivered to customers. The first countries where pre-orders are open are France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK; by the end of 2026, the market is planned to expand to 30 countries. The high-performance DENZA Z model (1,582 hp version) will also be available in the UK, with a starting price of £142,900, strengthening the premium product line.
