DENZA Z9 GT Launches in Europe: 5-Minute Fast Charging, Price Over 3x Higher Than in China

BYD's Premium Sub-brand DENZA Kicks Off Global Premium Strategy; WLTP Range of 372 Miles, Starting at £105,000

BYD's premium sub-brand DENZA has officially entered the European and UK markets, with its first flagship model — the DENZA Z9 GT EV — making its European debut in April 2026 and opening pre-orders in the UK that same week. Marketed as a 'fast-charging revolution,' the vehicle claims to recharge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes — yet its overseas price tag is more than triple that in China, drawing widespread attention.

The DENZA Z9 GT debuted in China in March 2026, touting a CLTC-rated range of 1,036 km (644 miles) and branding itself the 'world's longest-range all-electric vehicle.' In Europe, it adopts the WLTP testing standard, with an official maximum range of 599 km (372 miles). A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant launches concurrently; both versions feature BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and fast-charging technology, supporting peak charging power up to 1,500 kW.

According to official disclosures, the fast-charging system follows the 'Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3' principle: under normal temperatures, charging from 10% to 70% takes only five minutes; full charging from 10% to 97% takes nine minutes; even in extreme cold at -30°C, charging from 20% to 97% requires just 12 minutes — only three minutes longer than under normal conditions.

The DENZA Z9 GT offers both all-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The EV version packs a 122.49 kWh battery pack and a tri-motor system delivering a combined maximum output of 850 kW (1,140 hp) and peak torque of 1,210 N·m. Its dimensions are 5,195 mm × 1,990 mm × 1,480 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm — positioned to compete directly with Porsche, Panamera, and Taycan.

In the UK market, the EV starts at £105,000 (approx. $140,000), while the PHEV begins at £95,000 (approx. $126,500); in Germany and France, the EV starts at €115,000 (including VAT, approx. $134,500). By contrast, its starting price in China is just RMB 269,800 (approx. $39,300) — making the overseas price roughly 3.1 times higher.

To reinforce its premium image, DENZA partnered with Daniel Craig — the former James Bond actor — for its European launch event. BYD Executive Vice Li Ling stated: 'The launch of the DENZA Z9 GT in Europe marks a major milestone in our global expansion. It embodies cutting-edge technology, aesthetic design, and emotionally engaging driving experiences — and serves as the flagship platform for promoting our '5-minute ready, 9-minute full, +3 minutes in cold weather' fast-charging Everus across the globe.'

Notably, the DENZA Z9 GT remains in the pre-order phase and has not yet entered customer delivery. Initial pre-orders are open in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK, with plans to expand to 30 countries by end-2026. Another high-performance model — the DENZA Z (1,582 hp version) — will also launch in the UK starting at £142,900, further strengthening the brand's premium product lineup.
