Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 Max Claims 505 km CLTC All-Electric Range, Touts World's Longest EREV

Dual-Motor AWD + 1.5L Range Extender; N90 Max Also Opens Pre-Orders

On July 30, Xiaomi officially unveiled key specifications for its SkyNomad series of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). According to Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun, the SkyNomad N70 Max is equipped with a 76 kWh ternary lithium battery, delivering a CLTC all-electric range of 505 km — claimed as the longest among currently available production extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).

Notably, the N70 Max adopts a series plug-in hybrid architecture (i.e., range-extended EV), where its 1.5L Dongan engine serves solely for power generation — not mechanical drive. The automaker states the range extender achieves a peak thermal efficiency exceeding 44%, generating approximately 4 kWh of electricity per liter of fuel. The vehicle's CLTC combined energy consumption is as low as 15.85 kWh/100 km, enabled by technologies including silicon carbide power devices, low-rolling-resistance tires, lightweight body construction, and optimized thermal management.

In benchmarking comparisons, Xiaomi did not disclose competitor names, referring only to "Competitor A" and "Competitor B." However, multiple sources suggest "Competitor A" is highly likely the Leapmotor D19 — which features an 80.3 kWh battery and a CLTC all-electric range of 500 km. Despite its larger battery, the D19 measures 5252 mm in length and 3110 mm in wheelbase, significantly larger than the N70 Max (4960 mm long, 2950 mm wheelbase).

The N70 Max features a dual-motor AWD system: a front motor rated at up to 210 kW (282 hp) and a rear motor at 100 kW (134 hp), yielding a system-wide peak output of 310 kW (416 hp). Meanwhile, the larger N90 Max — also equipped with a 76 kWh battery — delivers a CLTC all-electric range of 464 km, with a total combined range (full battery + full tank) of 1705 km; its WLTC fuel consumption in charge-sustaining mode is 6.26 L/100 km.

The N90 Max also uses dual-motor AWD, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 190 km/h. Its dimensions are 5285 × 1998 × 1825 mm, with a 3080 mm wheelbase and a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout. Both second- and third-row seats feature six sliding rails. For fast charging, the N90 Max adds up to 285 km of range in 15 minutes, and takes 18 minutes to recharge from 20% to 80%.

Both models opened blind pre-orders on July 30, requiring a refundable 1,000-yuan deposit to secure priority delivery. The N70 Max top-tier variant carries a pre-order price of ¥259,900 (approx. $38,410), while the N90 Max Flagship variant is priced at ¥299,900 (approx. $44,570). Xiaomi clarified that these prices apply only to flagship trims; Pro and standard variants — and their pricing — will be announced later. Final retail pricing will be revealed at the official launch in September 2026, and is expected to be lower than current pre-order figures.

Additionally, Xiaomi demonstrated the N90 Max's dual-tire blowout test: with seven occupants onboard and traveling at 160 km/h, both the front-left and rear-left tires were simultaneously punctured — the vehicle maintained straight-line stability and came to a controlled stop.
