On July 10, Xiaomi officially announced the name of its new SUV product line as "SkyNomad" with the first model named SkyNomad N90. This large SUV — nearly 5.3 meters long — is scheduled to launch in mid-to-late August 2026, and reportedly has over 10,000 production units ready for sale.

Breaking from conventional vehicle launch timelines, Xiaomi unveiled a so-called "floor plan" one day before revealing the vehicle's name — a visual representation of the interior's adaptable scenarios. The series' English name is SkyNomad, positioning itself as an "intelligent adaptable-space SUV," emphasizing zero range anxiety, all-scenario mobility, and on-the-fly interior space reconfiguration.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun stated: "Refrigerators, large-screen TVs, and plush sofas" — plus "six- or seven-seat configurations" — have become standard features; true differentiation lies in enabling seamless role-switching for users: solo remote work, two-person meetings, or family road trips — all configurable with a single tap. The Pengcheng N90 adopts a 2+2+3 seating layout, featuring full-width floor rails, a sliding central console island, 180-degree rotating front seats, ceiling-mounted screens with fore-aft adjustability, and a dedicated tablet mounting zone behind the second row. The console island supports an adjustable-angle desktop; select variants will also offer roof-top tent configurations.
Notably, although equipped with an extended-range powertrain, Xiaomi does not position "extended-range" as its core selling point. According to China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data, extended-range and plug-in hybrid models collectively held a 56% share of China's new-energy large-SUV market in H1 2026 — still dominant — but battery-electric vehicles rose to 44%, with roughly 70% relying on battery-swap infrastructure. Xiaomi's Kunlun extended-range architecture claims to deliver a fully flat floor — providing the structural foundation for adaptable interior space. Technical details are expected at a dedicated tech briefing scheduled for late July.
The extended-range SUV segment already hosts mature offerings such as Li L9 and AITO M9, primarily targeting family-oriented consumers aged 35–55. Xiaomi must transcend existing brand perceptions, leveraging its "human-vehicle-home full ecosystem" strategy to position the Pengcheng series as an intelligent spatial platform. Goldman Sachs' research report suggests this model could become a key catalyst for Xiaomi's stock price rebound in Q3.
