BYD is advancing its globalization strategy with unprecedented momentum. According to the latest data, overseas sales of its electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles exceeded 160,000 units in May 2026 — a new monthly record. In key markets such as the UK, BYD has already surpassed Tesla and Kia to become the top-selling EV brand for the first several months of 2026.

Data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) shows that BYD registered over 26,000 vehicles in Europe in May 2026 — up 158% from approximately 10,000 units in May 2025. This upward trajectory is poised for another surge at next month's Goodwood Festival of Speed — the world's premier automotive showcase — where BYD plans to debut eight all-new models across its three sub-brands.
Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, stated that this exhibition "is not merely a product showcase but a clear strategic declaration," aiming to demonstrate globally "how innovation, performance, premium design and sustainability coexist within today's most comprehensive automotive portfolio."

Premium brand Yang Wang will debut the U9 Xtreme electric supercar. Last year, it set a new production EV lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 6:59.157, and achieved an officially certified top speed of 308.4 mph (≈496.3 km/h). Also launching is the U7 ultra-luxury sedan, offered in both battery-electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants.
Another premium brand, DENZA, focuses on European debuts: the all-electric two-door Denza Z Coupe and high-performance Denza Z Racing will appear side-by-side. The Z Coupe, built upon the Z Spider platform, features a tri-motor system delivering over 1,000 horsepower and a top speed of 217 mph (≈349 km/h); the Racing variant adds carbon-fiber aerodynamic components. Additionally, DENZA will launch the Bao 5 PHEV midsize SUV and formally enter the UK market — starting with the Z9 GT, followed by the D9 DM-i (PHEV).
BYD's core brand is also ramping up: the Dolphin G DM-i — a PHEV city car developed specifically for Europe — will go on sale, claiming a combined range of 646 miles (≈1,040 km) and best-in-class cargo space. Meanwhile, the Shark PHEV pickup truck makes its European premiere at Goodwood — having already launched in markets including Mexico, Australia and Chile.

Notably, BYD has confirmed its new flagship BEV SUV, the Great Tang, will follow its domestic success with a planned European launch. the intensive rollout of products across multi-brands, multi-segment and multi-powertrain models, BYD's global push has evolved from scale expansion to systematic, integrated output.
