On July 9, NIO officially launched the 2026 NIO ES8 five-seat variant, offering two trims: Executive Luxury and Executive Signature, with official MSRPs of ¥382,800–¥422,800. With the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) battery lease option, the entry price drops significantly to ¥274,800–¥314,800. Orders opened immediately, with deliveries commencing on July 10.

As a derivative of the third-generation ES8 (first unveiled in September 2025), the five-seat version retains identical dimensions to the current six- and seven-seat models: 5,280 mm long × 2,010 mm wide × 1,800 mm tall, with a 3,130 mm wheelbase. Exterior design stays true to the 'Design for Success' philosophy — featuring Double-Dash crystal LED daytime running lights paired with HDPL headlights, a 2,264 mm full-width light curtain rear lamp (with 600 LEDs), and a 230 L front trunk — all signature elements retained. Seven exterior colors are available: Polar Night Black, Starlight Gray, Cloud White, Antarctic Star Blue, Dawn Gold, M42 Nebula Red, and Moonlight Silver. The Xuanjin Special Edition adds five-layer chrome trim and matte-gold laser-engraved accent lines.

Space reconfiguration is the core upgrade: eliminating the third row expands the standard cargo capacity to 1,334 L. Combined with a recessed hidden storage compartment (255 L total, front and rear), and 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats, maximum expandable volume reaches 3,084 L. NIO also introduces factory-approved accessories — including fishing rod mounts, modular pegboards, a recessed cooler, flexible dividers, and privacy curtains — to support diverse lifestyles like camping, cycling, and photography.
Interior themes include Yadan Orange, Sumu Red, Daishan Blue, Pamir Brown, and Pearl Shell. The cabin features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and SkyOS・TianShu full-domain operating system, now with new UI themes: Football Festival and Sun Shadow Timeline. Front seats come standard with dual zero-gravity seats (20-way adjustment, 400 mm leg rests, 14/16-point massage, three-level heating + active ventilation). For the first time, rear seats feature dual Relax-Recline seats — offering 138° recline angle, 400 mm-wide leg rests, 16-point massage, plus an industry-rare 21.4-inch MINI-LED Sky Screen, 1.7 m² smart-tint privacy window, and an 8.8 L full-cabin temperature-controlled refrigerator.

The powertrain retains the full-domain 900V high-voltage architecture and dual-motor intelligent AWD: a front induction asynchronous motor (180 kW max) and rear permanent-magnet synchronous motor (340 kW max), delivering combined output of 520 kW. A standard 102 kWh battery pack enables a CLTC-rated range of 655 km. The chassis integrates dual-chamber air suspension with externally mounted single-valve CDC dampers, powered by the Shenji NX9031 chip and AQUILA ultra-sensing system (31 perception sensors), plus NIO's World Model (NWM), enabling point-to-point full-range navigation assistance (NOP+). First owners receive 5 years of complimentary NOP+, 6 years of connected vehicle services, 6-year or 150,000-km comprehensive warranty, 10-year unlimited-mileage warranty for the battery, motor, and electronic control system, and lifetime roadside assistance. Customers who place orders before July 31 also get the FlyHawk First-Class Package (valued at ¥2,680) and a 0% down payment, 0% down payment with 5-year interest-free and 3-year fee-free financing.
Industry analysts note that as rivals like VOYAH Taishan X8 and Li L8 continue strengthening their large five-seat flagship positioning, NIO ES8's rapid rollout of this five-seat variant reflects both pragmatic responsiveness to segment demand and accelerated product iteration capability. Since its September 2025 launch, the third-generation ES8 has surpassed 120,000 cumulative sales — solidifying its role as NIO's core volume driver. Whether the five-seat version further broadens its user base remains to be seen.
