NIO is a global electric vehicle startup founded in 2014, with design, R&D, production, and user centers in 19 locations including Shanghai, San Jose, Munich, and London. It brings together over 2,600 top talents from nearly 40 countries and regions. In 2015, NIO won the first-ever Drivers’ Championship in FIA Formula E history. In 2016, it released the world’s fastest electric vehicle, the EP9, setting lap records at famous tracks like Nürburgring. In 2017, NIO revealed its North American strategy, the EVE concept car, and the mass-production ES8. NIO was co-founded by William Li, Richard Liu, Li Xiang, Tencent, Hillhouse Capital, Shunwei, and others, and is backed by Temasek, Baidu Capital, Sequoia, Lenovo, IDG, GIC, TPG, and more.
