Chery Jaguar Land Rover Freelander 8 Launches Nationwide Roadshow, Static Show Cars Arrive at Dealerships

The Freelander 8 — the debut model under Chery Jaguar Land Rover's new independent sub-brand Freelander — is now entering its pre-launch promotion phase. According to multiple sources, static display units have begun arriving at authorized dealerships across China, while a nationwide roadshow covering 17 provinces and 30 cities kicked off on July 12, 2026, in Aranya and will run through August 1.

Freelander officially announced the roadshow launch on July 18, 2026. Notably, this pre-launch campaign adopts a dual-track approach: 'mobile roadshow + fixed static displays.' Roadshow vehicles will conduct short-term dynamic demonstrations in each city, while select authorized dealers have already received permanent static display units for close-up consumer viewing. However, the list of participating dealers has not yet been disclosed, nor have final pricing, production ramp-up schedule, or delivery timelines been revealed.

As the first independent brand incubated under the Chery Jaguar Land Rover joint venture framework, the Freelander 8 will be locally manufactured in China using its collaborative production system. Built on an extended-range electric (EREV) platform, it features a 1.5T range-extender engine delivering peak power of 115 kW (154 hp), paired with a CATL Freevoy ternary lithium battery pack rated at 60.331 kWh. Its official WLTC all-electric range is rated at 221 km.

Technically, the Freelander 8 employs an 800V high-voltage electrical architecture supporting 6C fast charging, with a peak charging power of 350 kW. Its chassis includes three differential locks, a sealed dual-chamber air suspension system, and Freelander's proprietary i-ATS all-terrain management system.

In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,118 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,898 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. Regulatory filings indicate that optional equipment may extend overall length to 5,185 mm. The cabin adopts a 2+2+2 six-seat layout, standard-equipped with zero-gravity seats, and offers an optional towing package rated for up to 2,000 kg. Curb weight stands at 3,495 kg.

The interior's standout feature is a full-width 46.3-inch panoramic display spanning the instrument panel — measuring 1.2 meters long, with 8K resolution and peak brightness of 1,000 nits. A separate 15.6-inch touchscreen sits in the center console, and the entire infotainment system is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Automotive 8397 chip. Regarding intelligent driving, rumors previously cited two versions — HuaweiADS 4.1 and ADS 5.0 — but the final production-spec configuration remains subject to official confirmation.
