Kia PV7 Electric Van Unveiled: Over 460 km Range, 23 Variants to Launch in Europe and Korea

Built on the E-GMP.S platform, larger than the ID. Buzz, with WLTP range exceeding 460 km

Kia officially unveiled its new all-electric van, the PV7, at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover, Germany, in September 2026. As the second production electric commercial vehicle under its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) business unit, the PV7 sits above the already launched PV5, targeting greater interior space, higher flexibility, and broader commercial adaptability.

Dimensions and Platform: Longer Than the ID. Buzz, With Significant Space Advantage

The PV7 measures 5,350 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,990 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,500 mm — notably larger than the PV5 (4,695 mm long, 2,995 mm wheelbase) and also exceeding Volkswagen's ID. Buzz long-wheelbase variant (4,962 mm long, 3,239 mm wheelbase). Its flat-floor design stems from the same Hyundai E-GMP.S dedicated EV platform used for the PV5, enabling exceptional interior layout freedom.

Battery and Performance: Dual-Capacity Battery Pack + 800V Fast Charging

The new van will offer two nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) lithium-ion battery options: 71.5 kWh and 96.2 kWh. The long-range Cargo variant achieves a WLTP combined range of over 460 km (~285 miles). All variants feature standard front-wheel drive; the automaker confirmed that an all-wheel-drive version may be introduced later.

Depending on configuration, the front motor delivers up to 200 kW (268 hp) maximum power and 420 N·m (309 lb-ft) peak torque. Leveraging its 800V high-voltage architecture, the PV7 supports up to 350 kW DC fast charging — enabling a charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 25 minutes.

Cabin and Intelligence: Android Automotive OS + Gleo AI Assistant

The cabin features Hyundai's Pleos Connect intelligent cockpit system, with dual touchscreen sizes: 12.9 inches and 14.6 inches. Built on Android Automotive OS, it supports app ecosystems and customizable interfaces. Integrated Gleo AI voice assistant handles navigation, vehicle function control, and information queries.

Dual-Track Strategy: Commercial & Passenger Versions, 23 Derivatives Planned

The Cargo variant offers 2- and 3-seat configurations. Standard cargo volume reaches 6.1 m³, expanding to 8 m³ in the high-roof version. Maximum payload capacities are 1,165 kg (long-wheelbase) and 1,200 kg (compact), respectively. Loading height is 550 mm — sufficient to accommodate three Euro pallets (800 × 1,200 mm) — and includes a dedicated heavy-load driving mode.

The Passenger variant targets shuttle services, leasing, and multi-passenger family use. The global version seats up to nine; the Korean domestic version accommodates up to eleven. Seven-seat models feature long-travel, quick-release seats; nine-seat versions offer optional fourth-row seating. Kia plans to roll out a total of 23 PV7 derivatives over the coming years, covering compact/long-wheelbase/high-roof Cargo and Passenger variants, chassis-cab configurations, and multiple third-party upfit models.

PV7 Passenger and Cargo models are scheduled to launch in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027, with gradual expansion into other regions thereafter. Kia has not disclosed official pricing yet, but for reference, the PV5 starts at ₩41–45.9 million (~US$30,300–34,000) in Korea and €38,390 (~US$44,200) for the five-seat Passenger variant in Germany.
