Since its 2025 launch, Kia's first dedicated BEV-platform van — the PV5 — has quickly gained popularity. Now, its larger sibling, the PV7, has been spotted on public roads for the first time, drawing widespread industry attention. Built on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP.S platform, this all-electric commercial vehicle is expected to officially launch in 2027.

According to foreign media reports, the PV7 prototype has completed its first dynamic road tests. Footage released by MotorsJason and HealerTV shows the vehicle heavily camouflaged — but its overall silhouette is clearly larger than the already mass-produced PV5. Officially announced concept dimensions for the PV7 stand at 5,270 mm long, 2,065 mm wide, and 2120 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,390 mm. In comparison, the PV5 Passenger variant measures 4,695 mm long, 2,895 mm wide, and 1,915 mm tall, with a 2,995 mm wheelbase. While production-spec dimensions may see minor adjustments, the PV7 will remain substantially larger than the PV5 — comparable in size to the Ford Transit L2.
Road-test footage reveals a charging port at the front and a second suspected charging interface on the passenger side. Its wheelbase nearly matches the length of the transport vehicle it was riding on, and its increased side width signals significantly enhanced interior space. The rear styling also distinguishes it from the PV5, featuring an independently designed rear bumper and tail lamp assembly.
As a core model under Kia's Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy, the PV7 continues the PV5's "all-scenario mobility solution" positioning. It will feature Hyundai Group's SDx software architecture alongside advanced battery and electric drive systems. Official sources emphasize that the PV7 offers the "largest interior volume" across the PBV lineup and will be available in multiple configurations — including passenger, cargo-box, chassis-cab, wheelchair-accessible, and three-row seven-seat variants — with potential for campervan conversions.
The PV5 is performing strongly in Europe: it captured 9% of local light commercial electric vehicle (eLCV) sales in the first three quarters of 2026; in the UK market, it ranks third among eLCV brands with a 17.4% share. The PV5 offers two battery options — 51.5 kWh and 71.2 kWh — with WLTP ranges of 295 km (183 miles) and 412 km (256 miles), respectively. While Kia has not yet confirmed battery capacity for the PV7, industry observers widely anticipate further gains in both range and payload capability.
Following recent PV5 expansions — including the new Prime trim, 2-2-3 seven-seat layout, and high-roof cargo variant — the PV7 will become Kia's second production PBV model. A still-larger PV9 is slated for launch in 2029. With the PV7 prototype now entering real-world road testing, more technical specifications and launch details are expected to emerge over the coming months.
