Recently, overseas media outlets leaked road-test spy photos of Kia's all-new Sportage. Reports suggest the model may completely drop its conventional gasoline-only powertrain in favor of three hybrid variants — mild hybrid (MHEV), full hybrid (HEV), and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) — a strategic move by Kia to address tightening emissions regulations in Europe and North America and shifting consumer demand toward low-carbon mobility.

Exterior styling features a more squared-off, rugged silhouette. The roof shares the same color as the body, while blacked-out A/B/C pillars create a floating-roof visual effect. A black roof rack is fitted, and both side mirrors and wheel rims adopt two-tone designs to enhance visual layering and youthful appeal. The front fascia appears boxy but remains heavily camouflaged — details like the grille and headlamps remain undisclosed. The rear is equally disguised: only the license plate recess integrated into the rear bumper is visible, and the exhaust system adopts a hidden layout with outlets concealed within the bumper.

Interior spy shots show the center console fully covered, so screen size, UI layout, and physical button configuration remain unknown. However, the seats are partially revealed — featuring two-tone leather upholstery, with thick, plush shoulder bolsters and headrests underscoring a comfort-focused design language. Notably, Hyundai and Kia previously announced a long-term joint roadmap indicating plans to launch extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) in North America and China before 2027, aligning with transitional market needs and regulatory timelines — and paving the way for the brand's full electrification. That said, this newly leaked Sportage shows no indication of extended-range powertrain options at this stage.

The vehicle remains in active testing, and no official launch timeline has been confirmed. According to foreign media reports, it is expected to debut in Q3 2027; final powertrain specifications, technical parameters, and regional rollout strategies are still pending confirmation.
