KIA EV5 Unveils New Storm Edition and AWD Variant

Kia has officially launched the 2025 EV5 Storm Edition and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, further expanding its global midsize battery-electric SUV lineup. Pre-orders opened on July 1, with first customer deliveries expected to begin at the end of 2026.

The EV5 Storm Edition builds upon the existing Air and GT-Line design language. While retaining the 81.4 kWh battery pack and front-wheel-drive powertrain, it elevates visual distinctiveness and equipment levels: body-color door handles, glossy black trim accents, 19-inch alloy wheels, electric auto-dimming, folding and heated side mirrors, automatic pop-out hidden door handles, LED daytime running lights, and adaptive headlights.

Inside, the Storm Edition features exclusive black synthetic leather seats, with front-seat heating and ventilation. The steering wheel adopts a four-spoke design, wrapped in synthetic leather and equipped with heating functionality. The cabin maintains a triple-screen layout — dual 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and center touchscreen (supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), plus a dedicated 5.3-inch climate control display.

Compared to the base model, the Storm Edition adds several premium features, including an 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charging pad, and smart power tailgate. Exterior color options include Gravity Grey, Fusion Black, and Dark Ocean Blue — all offered at no extra cost.

Meanwhile, Kia has also introduced an AWD option for the EV5 GT-Line series, adding an induction motor to the rear axle to enable all-wheel drive. Its maximum towing capacity reaches approximately 1,800 kg (nearly 4,000 lbs). This configuration is now available across both GT-Line and GT-Line S trims.

According to official data, since launching in the UK market at the end of 2025, the EV5 has enjoyed sustained strong sales — surpassing 4,000 units sold by 2026. It ranks as Kia's second-best-selling BEV model, trailing only the EV3. Its dimensions measure 4,610 mm (L) × 1,875 mm (W) × 1,675 mm (H), with a 2,750 mm wheelbase — making it 10 mm wider, 70 mm longer, and 30 mm taller than the Sportage.

The EV5 is currently on sale in key markets including the UK, Europe, Canada, China, Thailand, and South Korea. Although the vehicle has been spotted multiple times undergoing road tests in the U.S., Kia has no current plans to introduce it there due to import tariff policies.
