Genesis GV90 Global Debut: B-Pillar–Less Opposing Doors + 500 km CLTC Range Flagship EV SUV

Built on the dedicated eMP platform, featuring the world's first roof-mounted airbag and a 24.6-inch pop-up OLED display

Hyundai Automotive Group's luxury brand Genesis officially unveiled its first full-size flagship all-electric SUV — the GV90 — at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, USA. Officially dubbed the 'vanguard of a new Genesis era,' the GV90 redefines the benchmark for large electric SUVs through ultimate luxury appointments and breakthrough technological integration.

From Concept to Reality: Neolun Design Largely Realized in Production

More than two and a half years after the 2022 Neolun concept debuted, the production GV90 faithfully retains nearly all of its signature design language. Most striking is the B-pillar–less opposing door system — available on the GV90 Neolun Arch Gate variant, it features the world's first independently actuated, hidden-B-pillar opposing door architecture, enabled by an innovative dual-motion hinge mechanism that allows rear doors to open and close without interference from front doors. To compensate for the structural challenge posed by eliminating the B-pillar, engineers reinforced critical body zones with dual steel beams and installed a concealed roll cage approximately 1.5× thicker than standard — ensuring uncompromised passive safety performance.

Safety & Technology: Multiple World Firsts Enter Production

The GV90 is the world's first production vehicle equipped with a standard roof-mounted airbag, which deploys automatically during rollovers to fully cover the panoramic sunroof area, significantly enhancing head protection for occupants. The vehicle carries a total of 12 airbags and integrates an in-cabin monitoring system. Additionally, the GV90 debuts Genesis's next-generation powertrain control system: pulling the door handle powers up the vehicle automatically; the electronic column shifter and crystal-ball controller activate instantly; and pressing the brake pedal completes startup — enabling truly 'seamless wake-up.'

Cabin Experience: 24.6-Inch Pop-Up Screen + 3D Audio + Korean-Style Floor Heating

Inside, the GV90 features the world's first 23.6-inch retractable OLED 'Cinematic Display' — rising from 23.6 inches while driving to 24.6 inches when parked — serving as a unified interface for instrumentation, navigation, and multimedia. Replacing the traditional instrument cluster is a 25-inch AR-HUD that projects real-time speed, navigation prompts, and ADAS alerts directly into the driver's line of sight. The GV90 launches with Pleos Connect, a new infotainment system built on Android Automotive OS, powered by the Gleo AI voice assistant, and supporting Remote Smart Parking Assist 3Farizon and Memory Reversing Assist.

The audio system features a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D setup, including Acoustic Lens Technology tweeters, ceiling-mounted speakers, and Virtual Venue immersive sound processing. The 'Ambient Glow' ambient lighting responds dynamically to welcome sequences or voice activation. The Neolun Executive Suite four-seat variant adds VIP-grade amenities — including floor heating inspired by Korean 'Ondol' principles, a comfort partition wall, motorized sunshades, and an integrated refrigerator.

Performance & Range: 657 hp + 500 km CLTC Range

The GV90 is built on Hyundai Automotive Group's dedicated eMP pure-electric platform, measuring 5,286 mm (L) × 2,030 mm (W) × 1,820 mm (H) — or 1,816 mm with optional 24-inch wheels — with a wheelbase of 3,246 mm. It packs a 123.5 kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated 500 km CLTC all-electric range (7-seat configuration). Using a 350 kW DC fast charger, the battery recovers from 10% to 80% state of charge in just 22 minutes. Its dual-motor AWD system produces a maximum output of 490 kW (657 hp) and peak torque of 800 N·m, paired with front/rear electronic limited-slip differentials and active rear-wheel steering (up to 5° max angle), achieving turning-circle agility comparable to midsize vehicles. Its multi-chamber air suspension enables adaptive stiffness tuning.
