XPeng MONA L03 Spotted in Camo-Free Prototype: A 150,000-Yuan Coupe SUV with Full-Stack Intelligent Driving

2.85-meter wheelbase delivers class-defying space + 650 km BEV range / 257 km PHEV EV-only range — Launching H2 2026

Following the runaway success of the XPeng MONA M03 sedan—nearly 200,000 units sold annually—the first SUV in the MONA lineup, the MONA L03, has recently surfaced online in fully uncovered prototype form. Codenamed D02, this all-new compact coupe SUV is built on XPeng’s latest dedicated platform and positioned as a spacious five-seater. Priced between ¥130,000 and ¥150,000, it’s slated for official launch in the second half of 2026.

Class-Defying Space: 4.65-Meter Length, 2.85-Meter Wheelbase

The L03 adopts a low-slung, fastback silhouette without compromising practicality. At 4.65 meters long, its 2.85-meter wheelbase exceeds that of the BYD Song PLUS EV (2.71 m) and approaches midsize SUV proportions. Short overhangs maximize interior volume: a flat rear floor, knee room exceeding two fists, and a trunk deep enough to fit an unfolded infant stroller—precisely addressing young families’ dual demand for sporty aesthetics and everyday utility.

Dual Powertrains: 650 km BEV Range, 257 km PHEV EV-Only Range

The L03 will offer both battery-electric and extended-range variants. The BEV version features a 183 kW rear-mounted motor paired with either a 56 kWh or 69 kWh LFP battery pack, delivering up to 650 km CLTC range and 0–100 km/h acceleration in 6.8 seconds; its 80–120 km/h mid-speed sprint takes just 4.3 seconds—ideal for confident highway overtaking. The EREV variant pairs a 1.5L range extender with a rear motor, achieving a WLTC EV-only range of 257 km and total system range well beyond 1,000 km, with a low 5.5 L/100 km fuel consumption in charge-sustaining mode—effectively alleviating range anxiety.

Full-Range Standard VLA 2.0: Pure-Vision High-Level ADAS Now at the ¥150,000 Tier

Leveraging XPeng’s technical edge, the MONA L03 comes standard with VLA 2.0—a pure-vision, high-level intelligent driving system featuring 11 HD cameras and supporting urban/highway NOA without lidar. Higher trims add dual Turing chips (1,500 TOPS total compute), reducing urban NGP perception latency to just 80 ms and enabling traffic officer gesture recognition and complex intersection negotiation. The cockpit ditches the traditional instrument cluster in favor of AR-HUD; the center console hosts a floating touchscreen running the Dimensity AI Smart Cockpit OS—delivering highly integrated operation.

Three Key Considerations

  • VLA 2.0 has not yet completed mass-production delivery on the L03; real-world performance in heavy rain/snow or irregular intersections remains to be validated by users;
  • The fastback roofline slightly compromises rear headroom for passengers taller than 185 cm—test-driving is recommended;
  • Minimalist interaction design eliminates physical buttons: basic functions like climate control and mirror adjustment rely solely on voice or touch, requiring a learning curve.

From the M03 sedan to the L03 SUV, XPeng is extending its ‘high-end intelligent driving for all’ philosophy into the SUV segment. If final pricing aligns with expectations, the MONA L03 could become the most technologically compelling family-oriented coupe SUV under ¥150,000—and reignite growth for the entire MONA series.
