GEELY Automobile's self-developed Galaxy 'Gold Brick Battery' achieved a vehicle-side peak charging power of 1093 kW during recent verification testing by national authoritative institutions — making it the first mass-produced battery system in China to surpass the 1000 kW threshold. According to reports from Phoenix News, the data was fully monitored and certified by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC), marking a critical step forward for Chinese automakers in high-voltage fast-charging core technologies.

This breakthrough relies on a 900V high-voltage platform and an all-new short-blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery structure. To address thermal management challenges posed by extreme high-rate charging, the battery system adopts a dual-sided 3D liquid-cooling module design — fully enveloping cell groups within cooling channels — boosting heat-exchange area by 100% and shortening thermal conduction paths by 50%. Real-world tests show that under full 1093 kW input, maximum cell temperature remains stably controlled at 64°C — strictly below the national mandatory limit of 65°C — effectively suppressing electrolyte side reactions and active-material degradation.

The battery system has been deployed first on the LYNK & CO 10 series architecture. The model is now available in the domestic market, with a starting price of RMB 169,900 for the base variant. Official data indicates it can recharge from 10% to 70% state of charge (SOC) in just 4 minutes and 22 seconds — significantly faster than the previously announced LYNK & CO 10 EV technical benchmark (9 minutes); the full 10%–97% recharge takes only 8 minutes and 42 seconds, equivalent to adding roughly 2 km of range per second.

Notably, although BYD has built a 1500 kW charger-side flash-charging network and claims 5-minute recharging capability, GEELY has opted instead to optimize the 'vehicle-side acceptance capability' — enhancing the battery's intrinsic tolerance and thermal-control precision to avoid long-term structural stress on cells from externally ultra-high power. This solution is supported by a chemistry system enabling up to 4,500 full charge-discharge cycles, with a theoretical service life exceeding 1 million kilometers — matching the chassis lifespan. GEELY has also open-sourced 12 underlying structural patents — including key designs such as underpack protection — to promote cross-brand infrastructure compatibility.
