BYD Qin Max EV official images unveiled; 9-minute fast charging imminent

BYD has officially unveiled the official images of the Qin Max EV, with the new model set to launch next month. As the all-new flagship sedan in BYD's Dynasty series, the Qin Max is officially described as "a completely different B-segment fast-charging sedan designed for young users," forming a high-low pairing with the already launched Qin L and establishing a dual-track lineup within the Qin family.

Lu Tian, General Manager of Dynasty Network, announced on Friday that the Qin Max has begun arriving at dealerships nationwide in preparation for its official launch before month-end. According to him, the vehicle is the "extra-large" member of the Qin family, measuring 4866 × 1880 × 1495 mm with a wheelbase of 2790 mm — significantly longer and wider than Qin L, yet slightly shorter than TeslaModel 3 (4720 mm), while offering more compact width and height dimensions.

Per MIIT's regulatory filing, the Qin Max will offer both all-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The EV variant features electric motors delivering peak outputs of 120 kW and 240 kW (equivalent to 160 hp and 321 hp), respectively; maximum torque figures were not disclosed in the original text. It pairs with two versions of BYD's Blade Battery 2.0 — 52.868 kWh and 64.315 kWh — with CLTC all-electric ranges of 530 km and 630 km, respectively.

The new model retains the Qin family's signature design language: a closed-off front fascia, slender LED headlights, and a full-width rear light bar. Its side profile closely resembles that of Model 3. Inside, it features a large central touchscreen, a compact fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pads, and a two-spoke steering wheel. For intelligent driving, it is expected to adopt BYD's "Heavenly Eye" Level-B intelligent driving system and ADAS functions — though specific configurations and functional availability remain unannounced.

Notably, the claimed "fast charging" capability of the Qin Max — recharging from 10% to 97% state-of-charge in just 9 minutes, and from 10% to 70% in only 5 minutes — relies on the Blade Battery 2.0 and a new-generation fast-charging architecture. However, whether this performance is standard across all trims, the required charging infrastructure specifications, and real-world performance under varying conditions have yet to be detailed by the automaker. Following the Qin L EV's debut week sales exceeding 10,000 units, market anticipation for the Qin Max continues to build — more technical specs and pricing are expected to be revealed at next month's launch.
