Recently, unmasked road-test videos and real-world images of BYD's all-new flagship sedan — the Great Han — have been captured by multiple media outlets in China. The vehicle appears in a vibrant red body with white A-pillars and roof, confirming its near-final exterior design. It is expected to officially launch in the Chinese market soon, offering both battery electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.

As a premium extension of BYD's 'Han' family, the Great Han is built on the same platform as the best-selling BYD 'Datang' SUV — which secured over 100,000 pre-orders within two weeks of opening reservations. The new model features the second-generation Blade Battery, enabling 9-minute fast charging from 10% to 97% state of charge, plus rear-wheel steering and an active suspension system.
Exterior styling continues BYD's flagship design language: a fastback coupe silhouette, a raked hood, and a streamlined roofline. Its dimensions are 5,256 mm (length) × 1,999 mm (width) × 1,510 mm (height), with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm — 66 mm longer than the standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Key details include semi-concealed door handles, a full-width taillight, slender LED headlamps connected by chrome trim, an active front grille, and a roof-mounted LiDAR — confirming integration of the DiPilot 5.0 intelligent driving system, supporting navigation-assisted driving in city and highway scenarios.
In terms of powertrain specs, the entry-level BEV rear-wheel-drive variant delivers a peak output of 370 kW (496 hp), with a CLTC-rated all-electric range expected to reach 1,008 km. The dual-motor AWD version offers a combined peak output of 570 kW (764 hp) and an estimated 880 km range. The PHEV variant pairs a 1.5T engine (BYD472ZQB, max output 115 kW / 154 hp) with a 200 kW (268 hp) drive motor and a 54.489 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering an anticipated pure-electric range of up to 470 km. Pricing for the Great Han is targeted at around ¥300,000 (approximately $44,100).
The current-generation BYD Han series remains on sale. According to China EV DataTracker, standard Han sales totaled 3,390 units in May 2026, while the long-wheelbase Han L variant sold 689 units. The launch of the all-new Great Han is expected to further strengthen BYD's position in the premium new-energy sedan segment.
