New WEY from WEY Spotted in Official Vehicle Registration: Box-Shape Design + Dual-Battery PHEV, Set for Q4 2026 Debut

On September 8, the latest batch of new vehicle registration documents released by MIIT revealed official filing details for the all-new WEY from WEY. As the successor to the current WEY, this next-generation model completely abandons its predecessor's urban SUV styling in favor of a rugged, premium box-shaped design language. Positioned as a mid-to-large-size plug-in hybrid electric SUV (PHEV), it is expected to make its official debut in Q4 2026.

Developed on the same GWM H10 platform, the new model comes in two body lengths: 5140 mm (five-seat) and 5300 mm (six-seat), both sharing identical width and height dimensions of 2050 mm × 1960 mm and a uniform wheelbase of 3010 mm. Compared to the current WEY, both width and height have increased, while rear overhangs extend to 1192 mm (five-seat) and 1352 mm (six-seat) — a 160 mm increase dedicated entirely to improving third-row legroom and cargo capacity. The registration images show standard features including LiDAR sensors, an externally mounted spare tire (bearing the WEY logo), vertically split taillights, and a side-opening tailgate. Multiple exterior color options are available, including white, burgundy, blue, and black.

The powertrain combines a 2.0T engine (model E20NB, max output 182 kW) with front and rear dual motors in a plug-in hybrid architecture, branded "2.0T Hi4" on the rear badge. Motor outputs are rated at 110 kW (front) and 220 kW (rear). Battery packs use SVOLT ternary lithium cells in two capacities: 53.6 kWh and 64.7 kWh. Under WLTC conditions, the smaller pack delivers 220 km CLTC all-electric range, 6.80 L/100 km combined fuel consumption, and a top speed of 205 km/h; the larger pack achieves 270 km CLTC all-electric range, 6.90 L/100 km combined fuel consumption, and a top speed of 210 km/h. Tire options include 255/60 R20 and 275/50 R21.

Earlier reports suggest the vehicle may feature air suspension, an integrated panoramic display, and a mechanical rear differential lock — positioning it competitively in the ¥300,000 segment. Zhao Yongpo, CEO of WEY, previously stated that the WEY product line remains active with no discontinuation plans, and that the new generation will retain its flagship status within the brand lineup — though final pricing and trim specifications await official confirmation.
