Mercedes-Benz Unveils All-Electric GLA SUV: Over 650 km Range, Launching H2 2027

Mercedes-Benz has electrified its most compact SUV. The all-new GLA EV delivers comprehensive upgrades in size, intelligence, and range — achieving up to 657 km (≈408 miles) under WLTP conditions and supporting DC fast charging at up to 320 kW: a 10-minute charge adds up to 430 km (270 miles) of range.

First Compact Mercedes-Benz EV Built on the MMA Platform

According to official information, the new GLA EV will begin arriving at global dealerships from the second half of 2027, offered in both all-electric and plug-in hybrid variants. It follows the CLA and GLB as the third model built on Mercedes-Benz's new MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) electric drive platform — and the first compact Mercedes-Benz SUV to adopt it.

The vehicle debuts Mercedes-Benz's signature illuminated grille on a compact model for the first time, with an optional intelligent lighting system integrating the star emblem into daytime running lights.

Enhanced Space and Cabin Experience

Wheelbase grows to 2,790 mm (109.8 in), an increase of 60 mm (2.4 in) over the current model. Front legroom expands by ~8 mm (0.3 in); rear legroom gains up to 38 mm (1.5 in). A streamlined roofline paired with a standard panoramic glass sunroof boosts headroom for both rows by 23 mm (0.9 in).

The interior adopts Mercedes-Benz's latest cabin design language, featuring the floating MBUX Superscreen triple display: a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch central touchscreen, and a 14-inch front passenger entertainment screen — spanning the full width of the dashboard. Its navigation system is among the first automotive systems to integrate Google Cloud Automotive AI Agent technology, enabling natural-language voice interaction powered by Google Maps.

The MBUX virtual assistant can directly retrieve real-time charging station data — including live charging power and available connector availability.

Dual Powertrain Options with Confirmed Specs

Two all-electric variants will be offered: the GLA 250+ (single-motor RWD, max output 268 hp) and the GLA 350 4MATIC (dual-motor AWD, max output 349 hp). Both feature an 85 kWh battery pack and achieve a maximum WLTP range of 657 km (408 miles).

Leveraging an 800-volt high-voltage electrical architecture, the vehicle supports DC fast charging up to 320 kW — adding approximately 430 km (270 miles) of range in just 10 minutes.

Mercedes-Benz has not yet announced final pricing or full specification details, but reports suggest a U.S. starting price of $45,000, with EPA-estimated range expected at ~563 km (350 miles).
