Kia EV4 GT Launches in Canada: Dual-Motor AWD, 431 km Range

Kia has officially opened factory orders for the 2027 EV4 GT in Canada — the third 'affordable' battery-electric model to receive the GT performance badge there, following the EV5 GT and EV6 GT. Positioned as a high-performance electric sedan/hatchback, the EV4 GT emphasizes sporty styling and an upgraded powertrain. However, no clear timeline has been announced for its U.S. market launch.

According to official information, Kia launched the standard EV4 in Canada as early as late 2025, touting it as 'Canada's most affordable BEV,' with a starting price of CAD $38,995 (approx. RMB ¥192,000), even undercutting rival FIAT 500e (CAD $39,995). The newly introduced GT variant delivers comprehensive upgrades across exterior design, equipment, and performance.

The EV4 GT features an exclusive sport package, including neon-colored brake calipers, suede-and-synthetic-leather-trimmed seats, 20-inch alloy wheels, a GT-themed fully digital instrument cluster, and a dedicated GT mode button on the steering wheel. It also comes standard with a head-up display — available only on GT models — projecting key info such as speed and navigation prompts onto the windshield.

Under the hood, the EV4 GT packs an 81.4 kWh battery pack, with Kia estimating a combined range of 431 km (~267 miles). Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout delivers up to 288 hp and peak torque of 345 lb-ft (~467 N·m). In contrast, the standard EV4 uses a single front motor, producing 201 hp and 209 lb-ft (~283 N·m) of torque.

The standard EV4 is offered in five trims in Canada: Light FWD (standard range), Wind FWD (long range), Wind Premium FWD (long range), GT-Line FWD (long range), and GT-Line Limited FWD (long range). The 2027 EV4 GT is now open for pre-orders through certified dealers' factory order programs, with a base price of CAD $58,595 (approx. RMB ¥288,000); the delivered price — inclusive of freight, environmental levies, and other mandatory fees — totals CAD $61,344 (approx. RMB ¥302,000).

Notably, while Canadian customers can already place orders, Kia announced over a year ago that the EV4 series' U.S. launch would be 'Infiniti-delayed,' with no updated timeline since. As a stopgap, Kia has introduced the more entry-level 2027 EV3 in the U.S., starting at USD $29,890 (approx. RMB ¥216,000) — one of the cheapest brand-new BEVs on the American market. In Canada, the EV3 has likewise become the country's lowest-priced new BEV.
