Jetta M6 All-Electric Sedan Appears in Official Catalog: 145 kW Dual-Power Variant, Launching Second Half of 2026

The first all-electric sedan from Volkswagen's Jetta brand — the Jetta M6 — has recently appeared in the MIIT new-vehicle catalog. Positioned as a fully ground-up developed pure electric midsize sedan, it is expected to enter commercial production in the second half of 2026, marking a pivotal step forward in Jetta's electrification strategy.

According to official filings, the Jetta M6 features a fastback design and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. Its overall dimensions are 4,806 mm (length) × 1,868 mm or 1,895 mm (width, depending on trim) × 1,500 mm (height). It offers semi-concealed door handles and a charging port located on the front fender of the passenger side — striking a balance between aerodynamics and local aesthetic preferences.

Under the hood, the vehicle adopts a single-motor drive system supplied by CRRC Times Electric in Hunan. No dual-motor configuration appears in the filing. Two power outputs are listed: a standard version delivering up to 113 kW peak power and 57 kW rated power, with a top speed of 166 km/h; and a high-output version offering up to 145 kW peak power and 62 kW rated power, raising the top speed to 172 km/h. Both variants use lithium-ion battery cells sourced from Chinese manufacturer CALB, with battery packs assembled at the FAWVolkswagen joint venture plant.

Vehicle curb weight ranges from 1,557 kg to 1,628 kg depending on powertrain selection. Braking is handled by BWI Group's MK C2 ABS system, with front/rear track widths measuring 1,625 mm and 1,620 mm respectively. Wheel options include 17-inch and 18-inch alloys, fitted with either 215/55 R17 or 215/50 R18 tires. Optional equipment includes direct/indirect TPMS, panoramic sunroof, shark-fin antenna, and side-view cameras mounted on the front fenders.

In terms of market positioning, the Jetta M6 is explicitly targeted at the RMB 102,041 price segment (approx. USD 15,000), aiming squarely at the mainstream entry-level EV market and competing head-on with leading domestic new-energy brands. This move is also viewed as a key initiative by the FAW–Volkswagen joint venture to alleviate current sales pressure — according to China EV DataTracker, Volkswagen's wholesale volume in China reached 102,840 units in June 2026, up 5.5% month-on-month but down 41.4% year-on-year. Localized R&D and supply-chain integration for the Jetta M6 could help stabilize its market share within this segment.
