EVgo to Deploy Tesla V4 Superchargers, Branded 'EVgo Supercharger'

Hundreds of proprietary-brand supercharging stations launching in second half of 2026, compatible with both Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles

U.S. public fast-charging operator EVgo announced it will deploy hundreds of proprietary-brand supercharging stations — owned and operated by EVgo but built on Tesla's latest V4 hardware — via Tesla's "Supercharger for Business" program. These sites will be branded collectively as "EVgo Superchargers" and integrated into EVgo's existing network, not Tesla's official Supercharger network.

Under the agreement, construction of the first batch of stations begins this fall, with rollout expected to commence in the second half of 2026. Specific locations have not yet been disclosed, though EVgo emphasized that stations will be densely deployed in major U.S. urban commercial districts — adjacent to retail stores and restaurants — with up to 20 charging stalls per site.

For Tesla owners, these stations will be directly integrated into vehicle navigation systems and included in Trip Planner's intelligent route optimization, significantly boosting visibility and usage across millions of Tesla drivers in the U.S.

Hardware-wise, EVgo Superchargers will feature Tesla V4 superchargers — capable of peak output up to 500 kW and supporting a wide voltage range from 400 V to 1,000 V. Officially, real-world charging speed varies by vehicle; some models can regain up to 200 miles (≈322 km) of range in just 15 minutes. All units include the "Magic Dock" smart connector, automatically accommodating both the North American Charging Standard (NACS) and the Combined Charging System (CCS) without adapters. They also adopt the V4-standard extended cable length to improve compatibility across diverse vehicle charging port positions.

EVgo CEO Badar Khan stated: "We're making high-quality fast charging more accessible to EV drivers while expanding choice in public charging infrastructure for communities nationwide — meeting rapidly growing demand." Data shows EVgo's network charging demand surged over 700% in the past three years; as of July 31, 2026, it operated 240 NACS ports, and over 35 electric vehicle models natively supporting NACS are expected to launch in the U.S. market by year-end 2026.

Note that Tesla V4 hardware represents only part of EVgo's current expansion initiative. Its Innovation Lab in El Segundo, California, is concurrently developing its next-generation proprietary charging system, with prototype units slated for deployment before the end of 2026.
