DENZA Z9 GT Unveils In-House Steer-by-Wire Architecture with Triple-Motor Layout Enabling ±20° Rear-Wheel Steering

Features Single-Winding Front-Axle Steering Motor and Six-Layer Redundancy; Technology to Enter Mass Production on 2026 Z9 GT

Recently, key chassis technology details of DENZA's all-new Z9 GT have been further revealed. Industry teardown reports indicate the vehicle adopts BYD's in-house-developed Fudi POR8 steer-by-wire system — featuring a breakthrough single-winding, single-motor front-axle layout that departs from conventional Tier 1 supplier solutions, significantly reducing thermal load and space demand in the front suspension area.

The system achieves 0.1° steering precision and responds three times faster than traditional mechanical steering systems. More notably, its triple-motor collaborative architecture comprises one dedicated steering motor on the front axle and two fully independent steering motors integrated into the rear axle — enabling up to ±20° rear-wheel steering and shrinking the vehicle's minimum turning radius to just 4.62 meters.

To comply with China's upcoming mandatory safety standards for next-generation steer-by-wire systems, the POR8 module incorporates six layers of localized redundancy — including dual main-control microchips, independent 12V and 48V power supply circuits, six-phase motor position monitoring, dual-redundant torque/angle sensor signals, and an isolated dual-operating-system design — all safety logic centrally monitored and managed via the E³ chassis domain controller for fail-safe degradation.

This in-house steer-by-wire architecture is designed exclusively for high-performance premium models and will debut on the 2026 mass-production DENZA Z9 GT. Powertrain specs were previously disclosed: peak output of 58 kW and 85 kW, peak torque of 130 N·m and 150 N·m; the vehicle has undergone multiple rounds of supercar-grade validation testing at the Nürburgring circuit.

Notably, this technology debut coincides with accelerated regulatory rollout of steer-by-wire standards in China. Meanwhile, DENZA brand sales are rebounding: per China EV DataTracker, its monthly domestic new-registration volume rose from 5,351 units in February to 6,762 in March, 10,638 in April, and surged further to 15,620 in May — a 46.8% month-on-month increase, capturing 1.0% share of China's new-energy passenger vehicle market that month.
