Denza N8 BEV Range Exceeds 1,000 km with 130.15 kWh Battery

Latest MIIT filings reveal that BYD's premium brand DENZA is preparing to launch two new all-electric mid-to-large SUVs: the all-new DENZA N8 and its extended-wheelbase variant DENZA N8L. The BEV version of DENZA N8 achieves a maximum CLTC all-electric range of 1,003 km, making it one of the first production models in China to surpass the 'double three-digit' (i.e., over 1,000 km) range milestone.

According to the filings, DENZA N8 offers two battery options: lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade Battery packs rated at 130.15 kWh and 105.792 kWh. Depending on motor configuration and curb weight, CLTC all-electric ranges span four tiers: 1,003 km, 970 km, 840 km, and 800 km. Meanwhile, the longer DENZA N8L — identical in wheelbase but stretched to 5,200 mm in length — uses only the 130.15 kWh pack, delivering a CLTC range of 960 km.

Design-wise, the new model retains DENZA's signature family language. Dimensions for the standard DENZA N8 are 5,150 mm (L) × 1,999 mm (W) × 1,820 mm (H), with a 3,075 mm wheelbase; the N8L grows to 5,200 mm in length while retaining identical width, height, and wheelbase. The rear features a full-width slim LED taillight bar and a centrally mounted DENZA logo, delivering a clean, dignified profile.

Powertrain options show clear performance stratification: rear-wheel-drive variants offer two single-motor outputs — 320 kW (429 hp) and 370 kW (497 hp). More notably, the tri-motor AWD architecture comprises one 270 kW (362 hp) motor on the front axle and two 310 kW (416 hp) motors on the rear axle, yielding a system-wide peak output of 890 kW (1,193 hp), placing it firmly in supercar territory.

Notably, the current DENZA N8 debuted in 2023, with its original BEV version capped at a 108.8 kWh battery. The new N8 not only ups battery capacity but also eclipses the combined range (1,030 km) of the 2023 plug-in hybrid version — highlighting substantial efficiency gains from the pure electric platform. As BYD's premium brand, DENZA posted its first-ever monthly sales above 20,000 units in June 2024 and delivered 19,196 vehicles in July, up 68.8% year-on-year.
