2026 BMW BMW iX3 Long-Wheelbase Edition Range Revealed: CLTC 919 km, Energy Consumption 13.6 kWh/100 km

Built on 800V Platform with 'Neue Klasse' E-Drive Tech; Pre-orders Launch at Chengdu Auto Show

Latest disclosures from MIIT confirm key range and efficiency specs for the 2026 BMW BMW iX3 Long-Wheelbase Edition: a CLTC-rated all-electric range of 919 km and energy consumption of 13.6 kWh per 100 km.

Built on BMW's all-new 'Neue Klasse' electric platform, the vehicle adopts an 800V high-voltage architecture and — for the first time in the iX3 lineup — integrates large cylindrical cells with Cell-to-Pack (CTP) battery packaging. According to official claims, this yields a 20% increase in energy density, a 30% boost in range, and a 30% improvement in charging efficiency versus the current model.

The powertrain delivers a combined maximum output of 351 kW (477 hp) and supports ultra-fast charging — adding ~400 km of range in just 10 minutes. A 'Driving Control Super Brain' enables millisecond-level coordination between powertrain and chassis systems.

Design-wise, the vehicle debuts BMW's latest design language. The front features a 3D-illuminated kidney grille paired with integrated lighting units, delivering a digital 'Angel Eyes' effect. The side profile introduces China-exclusive 'Mirror-Gloss Corners', replacing the traditional Hofmeister kink. Semi-concealed electric door handles support both electronic and mechanical activation, backed by triple safety redundancy. Overall dimensions are 4885 mm × 1895 mm × 1635 mm, with a wheelbase stretched to 3005 mm.

Inside, four interior color schemes are offered. The centerpiece upgrade is BMW's new Panoramic iDrive cockpit system, featuring a panoramic vision bridge and 3D head-up display — projecting near-40-inch 4K panoramic imagery onto the windshield via ultra-short-focus projection. The central touchscreen measures 17.9 inches and tilts 17.5° toward the driver for optimal ergonomics. The infotainment system deeply integrates local ecosystems, supporting both Huawei HiCar and Apple CarPlay, and is powered jointly by Alibaba's AI large language model and DeepSeek's reasoning engine for voice interaction.

The intelligent driving system — co-developed by BMW and Momenta — employs an end-to-end AI architecture, leveraging localized large models to cover urban and highway scenarios. It enables adaptive cruise control and real-time risk detection and avoidance in complex Chinese road conditions. Front passenger seats now feature electric leg rests; rear seat cushions are thicker and longer; and a seamless panoramic sunroof is standard. Total cargo capacity — front + rear — reaches up to 1900 liters.

The 2026 BMW BMW iX3 Long-Wheelbase Edition is expected to open pre-orders at the Chengdu Auto Show, with official deliveries scheduled to begin in Q4 this year.
