Audi A2 e-tron Launches: Brand's Most Efficient EV Ever

Audi is reviving its dormant A2 model line after 25 years with an all-new battery-electric vehicle. This entry-level electric sedan, slated for official launch this autumn, is officially dubbed "the most efficient production car Audi has ever built."

Efficiency First: 0.24 Drag Coefficient & 12.8 kWh/100 km Consumption

According to official Audi data, the A2 e-tron — equipped with a 140 kW motor and efficiency-optimized package — achieves a WLTP-certified energy consumption of just 12.8 kWh per 100 km, setting a new benchmark across Audi's entire lineup. Its drag coefficient stands at an industry-leading 0.24 — the lowest among Audi's current compact vehicles.

This ultra-low energy consumption stems from holistic system optimization: a newly developed electric drive architecture, lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, active grille shutters (closed during normal driving to reduce drag; automatically opened during charging or high-temperature operation for thermal management), and a Cell-to-Pack (CTP) battery integration directly mounted to the chassis — boosting energy density while freeing up cabin space.

Three Battery Options + Four Power Outputs, Featuring V2L/V2H Bidirectional Charging

The A2 e-tron will offer three battery capacities — 50 kWh, 58 kWh, and 79 kWh — paired with four motor output levels: 125 kW, 140 kW, 170 kW, and 240 kW. The 140 kW variant features a 61 kWh LFP battery, achieving an 89.6% wall-box charging efficiency and adaptive thermal management.

Notably, bidirectional charging comes standard across all trims, enabling vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) functionality — turning the car into a mobile power station.

Starting at ~$44,000 — Audi's Most Affordable EV

Officially confirmed pricing places the A2 e-tron's German market entry point at approximately €38,200 (~$44,000). Its maximum WLTP range reaches 649 km (403 miles). By comparison, the current Q4 e-tron starts at €47,500 — nearly €10,000 higher.
