JEEP Recon EV Confirmed for European Launch, Sales to Begin Early 2027

JEEP is accelerating its global electrification strategy. According to official confirmation from Stellantis, its all-electric rugged off-roader — the JEEP Recon EV — will officially launch in the European market early in 2027. Earlier rumors suggesting the model's withdrawal from Europe have now been confirmed false.

Although the Recon EV has recently gone on sale in the U.S. and Canada, Stellantis reaffirms its unchanged global rollout timeline: following North America, Europe, the UK, and other key markets will follow as planned within 2026. A company spokesperson told Electrek definitively: "The fully electric Recon will still launch in Europe." This statement directly refutes AutoExpress's earlier erroneous report claiming JEEP had abandoned the Recon's European launch.

Notably, the Recon EV is only part of JEEP's broader European strategy. Stellantis revealed it plans to introduce three new SUVs to Europe over the next two years, spanning B- to D-segment categories. One flagship D-segment SUV will be designed by JEEP and co-produced in China under its joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corporation — the vehicle will be built on Dongfeng's existing platform and technology, offering battery electric, plug-in hybrid, and extended-range electric powertrains.

Fabio Catone, JEEP's Head of Europe, described the China-built flagship as an "iPhone-style product": a deep fusion of brand DNA and cutting-edge technology, fully leveraging localized industrial capabilities. The other two models target the B-segment — one labeled "compact" and the other "large B-segment" — with the latter sized close to C-segment, sitting between the Avenger and Compass; the former is wider than the current Avenger and features a more rugged SUV design.

All three new models will be built on Stellantis' newly launched STLA One global platform. Highly modular, the platform supports battery electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains — and for the first time integrates the STLA Brain intelligent computing architecture, STLA SmartCockpit intelligent cabin system, and steer-by-wire technology, providing foundational support for future feature updates and personalized user experiences.
