STELATO G9 Receives Beijing L3 Autonomous Driving Test License, Expected to Launch in August

First STELATO Model Approved for 120 km/h Highway L3 Road Testing; Extended-Range and BEV Versions Both in Development

On July 15, the STELATO brand officially announced that its all-new large SUV — the STELATO G9 — has received an L3-level autonomous driving road test license from Beijing, becoming the first STELATO vehicle approved for 120 km/h L3 autonomous driving testing on public roads in Beijing City. The model has completed MIIT registration and comes standard with an 800V high-voltage architecture, offering both extended-range and battery-electric powertrains. It is scheduled to go on sale in Q3 2026, with industry speculation pointing toward an August launch.

Beijing City operates China's most stringent and comprehensive autonomous driving test license approval system. The STELATO G9 features a multi-sensor fusion solution comprising LiDAR, cameras, and millimeter-wave radar, including an automotive-grade 896-line LiDAR. It successfully passed simulation-based validation, closed-course testing, and four core safety verifications: functional safety, expected functional safety, cybersecurity, and data security — fully complying with lifecycle test data supervision requirements. Its L3 system is designed to operate under nighttime conditions and supports up to 120 km/h on expressways and highways, enabling navigation-assisted lane changes, efficiency-optimized lane changes, and safety-prioritized lane changes — dynamically selecting strategies based on navigation routing, traffic flow efficiency, and surrounding risk factors.

In exterior design, the STELATO G9 departs from the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance family language, adopting vertically oriented headlamps integrating circular and semi-circular lighting elements for strong visual identity. A dedicated intelligent-driving 'blue dot' light — featuring circular motifs — is embedded within the front lamps to reinforce its tech-forward character. The rear also adopts vertical taillights, echoing the front design; an externally mounted spare tire and side-hinged rear doors further emphasize its off-road capability and adventure-ready versatility. Dimensions measure 5377 × 2050 × 1897 mm, with a wheelbase of 3160 mm — surpassing those of Yangwang U8.

Powertrain options include both BEV and extended-range variants: The BEV version comes standard with the 800V high-voltage platform and dual motors supplied by Huawei Digital Energy Technology Co., Ltd., delivering peak outputs of 160 kW and 277 kW respectively. All variants use the Huawei Whale Battery platform and feature a standard 120 kWh battery pack, achieving a CLTC all-electric range exceeding 700 km. The extended-range version uses a 1.5T range extender developed by BAIC Motor Powertrain Co., Ltd., producing 118 kW, paired with front and rear dual motors (same peak outputs: 160 kW and 277 kW). It offers an optional 75.4 kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC all-electric range of over 400 km and a CLTC combined range exceeding 1300 km.

The interior retains STELATO's triple-screen interaction layout. The center console features a clean, horizontal, angular design, complemented by vertically oriented rounded-rectangle HVAC vents, dual wireless phone chargers, and a center-console grab handle. Two factory-configured seating layouts are available: 2+3 five-seat and 2+2+2 independent six-seat configurations. The six-seat variant features dedicated aviation-style second-row seats with ventilation, heating, multi-stage massage, and powered leg rests. The cargo area offers a flat, unobstructed load floor and carries factory-rated towing capacity of up to 2000 kg — ideal for hauling travel trailers and large outdoor gear.
