Maserati is accelerating its brand revival strategy. According to industry sources cited by Future Cars Daily, the Italian luxury automaker has finalized a tripartite cooperation framework with Huawei and JAC Automobile, planning to launch two all-new battery-electric models: a mid-to-large-size pure-electric SUV and a large pure-electric GT sedan.

The SUV will complement the existing Grecale Folgore, filling a gap in the mid-to-large luxury BEV SUV segment; the GT model — designated internally as the flagship launch priority — aims to carry forward the brand's sporting DNA and GT ethos embodied by the GranTurismo Folgore, reinforcing Maserati's identity anchor in high-performance electrification.
This collaboration delivers synergies across technology, manufacturing, and branding: Huawei contributes the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) platform — including intelligent cockpit systems, Qiankun ADS ADAS, and electric drive technology; JAC leverages its Hefei "MAEXTRO Super Factory" for vehicle engineering development and body-in-white production; Maserati provides century-old Italian design language and its global sales network. Under the "dual-brand" strategy, the new vehicles will be sold in China under the "MAEXTRO" brand, while retaining the Maserati badge overseas.

To balance cost control with luxury heritage preservation, Maserati plans to adopt a semi-knocked-down (SKD) export model: body-in-white units will be produced at the Hefei factory and shipped to Italy, where final interior assembly, chassis tuning, and quality inspection will be completed at Maserati's historic Cassino and Modena plants. The Middle East, Italy, France, and Germany have been identified as initial target markets.
This partnership arrives at a pivotal juncture for Maserati: global deliveries in 2025 fell short of 8,000 units — down 80% from the 2017 peak, marking the lowest level in over a decade; adjusted operating losses reached €198 million, with a profit margin of -27.3%. Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa previously acknowledged that industrial partnerships — not asset sales — are essential to ensure the brand's long-term viability. By tapping into Huawei's intelligent capabilities and JAC's scalable manufacturing foundation, Maserati aims to overcome current bottlenecks in EV R&D and digital transformation.
