Chery and Huawei Unveil Luxeed RX, Pre-sales Target Xiaomi YU7

The intelligent electric crossover SUV Luxeed RX — co-developed by Chery and Huawei — launched blind reservations in the Chinese market on August 20, 2026. Positioned as a sporty mid-to-large-size all-electric SUV, the RX will directly compete with the recently high-profile Xiaomi YU7 and Voyah Zhuiguang S, with a pre-sale price range of ¥229,800–¥359,800.

Notably, the Luxeed RX's exterior design is led by renowned automotive designer Werner Gruber, formerly of Ferrari, Pininfarina, and Saleen. Its elongated hood, wide rear fenders, semi-concealed door handles, and short-tail fastback silhouette have drawn comparisons in industry circles to an 'electric Purosangue' aesthetic — a distinctive departure from mainstream all-electric SUVs today. The model name also breaks Luxeed's existing 'letter + number' naming convention (e.g., S7, R7, V9), adopting the single letter 'X' — possibly hinting at performance and technological ambition 'beyond Level 10'.

The Luxeed RX measures 5020 × 2007 × 1585 mm and features a five-seat layout. Its interior includes a 16.1-inch floating central touchscreen, an 8.88-inch front passenger entertainment display, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a 26-inch AR-HUD. Uniquely, it merges traditional side/rearview mirrors with an electronic streaming solution: ambient information displays are integrated into the door panels, enabling drivers to summon surrounding camera feeds on demand. The vehicle carries 38 sensors and four LiDAR units — including one high-resolution 896-line primary LiDAR — supporting point-to-point navigation-assisted driving. This L2+ intelligent driving system still requires full driver supervision and immediate takeover capability.

Powertrain options include a single-motor rear-wheel-drive variant (max power: 277 kW / 371 hp) and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version (peak power: 437 kW / 586 hp). Three battery pack capacities are offered — 81.1 kWh, 100.25 kWh, and 100.42 kWh — delivering CLTC-rated all-electric ranges spanning 700–852 km. The chassis features an active suspension system, with body torsional rigidity exceeding 50,000 N·m/deg.

As Luxeed's fourth production model, the RX is sold exclusively through Huawei's HIMA distribution network, sharing sales channels with AITO, STELATO, Luxceed, and SAIC MotorRising. According to China EV DataTracker, Luxeed delivered 9,906 units domestically in July 2026. Meanwhile, the official售价 of Xiaomi YU7 stands at ¥233,500–¥389,900, and Voyah Zhuiguang S at ¥229,900–¥279,900 — confirming clear price-band overlap and competitive product positioning among all three models.
