Jaguar Type 01 All-Electric GT Interior Unveiled: Minimalist Four-Seat Layout + Central Spine Design Sparks Debate

Jaguar has unveiled the interior design of its all-new all-electric GT model — the Type 01 — marking the first official look at the cabin. Continuing the bold exterior language that previously ignited widespread discussion, the interior adopts a 'never-before-seen' ethos, officially launching Jaguar's visual revolution in electric mobility.

According to Jaguar Global Managing Director Rodon Glover, the Type 01 is 'unmistakable from every angle' — and its interior is the natural extension of that Everus. As the first tangible expression of Jaguar's new 'creative philosophy', this interior design first stirred controversy on social media when the concept car debuted in late 2024; industry figures including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Lucid Motors executives publicly joked about its radical styling.

The cabin features a minimalist four-seat layout, with its most striking element being a dramatic central spine running through the center console and seats — dividing the passenger compartment into four distinct zones. Unlike traditional Jaguar models, the driver faces a large digital display, while the conventional cupholder location is replaced by a small touchscreen; the vehicle has no physical cupholders whatsoever.

In terms of technology, a digital ClearSight rearview display is integrated at the base of the windshield to enhance driver focus. Traditional wood trim is abandoned in favor of brass-inspired surfaces applied to the central spine, door panels, and parts of the steering wheel. Physical buttons remain on both the steering wheel and door panels — balancing intuitive operation with premium tactility.

Glover emphasized: "The Type 01 delivers a supremely confident GT driving position, a clean and refined tech experience, and a highly expressive design language — its interior truly is unprecedented."

Jaguar will officially unveil the full Jaguar Type 01 all-electric GT in New York on October 6, 2026. A prototype wearing an exclusive new paint scheme will also appear at Monterey Car Week. Regarding pricing, The Sunday Times reported in December 2024 that then-Jaguar Land Rover CEO Adrian Mardell stated Jaguar's new luxury all-electric lineup is expected to start at approximately £150,000 (around $200,000), with the Type 01 likely positioned at the upper end of that range.
