Lotus Emira 420 Sport Global Debut: 420 hp, 1,430 kg Lightweight Supercar

Recently, Lotus officially unveiled the all-new Emira 420 Sport at Hethel, UK — marking its global debut. As the most powerful, lightest, and aerodynamically optimized Emira to date, the model was developed around three core pillars: extreme weight reduction, precision chassis tuning, and pure driving engagement. Its overseas starting price is £105,900 (approximately RMB ¥959,700).

The exterior retains Emira's classic proportions and clean lines, with minimal visual differentiation from the standard model — but features targeted aerodynamic refinements throughout. The front bumper adopts a full-width triple-vent intake design, boosting engine cooling efficiency by 15%; brake ducts are also fully integrated to ensure every airflow channel serves a functional purpose. A new vent atop the front fender actively releases high-pressure air from the wheel arch, effectively reducing front-axle lift and turbulent interference. Additionally, the removable glass roof can be stowed behind the seats — balancing open-top emotional appeal with practicality.

The vehicle's curb weight stands at just 1,430 kg; selecting the lightweight handling pack trims an additional 25 kg — achieved via a titanium exhaust system, a new lithium-ion battery, and a carbon-fiber louvered engine cover. Chassis upgrades include a 5 mm lower ride height, recalibrated suspension geometry, and Multimatic dual-adjustable dampers — significantly sharpening steering response and cornering stability. High-speed aerodynamics were comprehensively refined: while maintaining the same drag coefficient, downforce at the rear axle increases by 25 kg at 300 km/h.

The cabin maintains a driver-centric layout, with multiple trim panels available for customization. Carbon-fiber paddle shifters behind the steering wheel have been re-tuned for sharper tactile feedback and a more race-inspired feel. Power comes from a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four engine delivering 420 hp and 500 N·m of torque, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive. The 0–100 km/h sprint takes 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 300 km/h.
