GEELY Accelerates Development of 1000V High-Voltage Platform, Aiming for New 5.5-Minute Fast-Charging Record

Targeting BYD's Flash Charging Technology: 800V System Already in Mass Production; 1000V Architecture Under Development

GEELY Holding Group is accelerating R&D of its next-generation high-voltage electric drive architecture. It is reportedly developing a new platform with a nominal voltage of up to 1000V, targeting further reduction of 10%–80% state-of-charge (SOC) replenishment time to under 5.5 minutes — aiming to match and surpass BYD's flash charging technology in ultra-fast charging experience.

Currently, GEELY has scaled up deployment of its 800V high-voltage system across multiple models, covering the full chain — from battery, e-motor, and power electronics to on-board chargers, wiring harnesses, and vehicle body structure. Official statements indicate this architecture significantly improves charging speed, range, and overall system efficiency.

A widely circulated online test video previously showed "LYNK&CO 10 achieving 10%–97% charging in just 8 minutes 42 seconds, and 10%–80% in only 5 minutes 32 seconds at an BYD flash charging station." LYNK&CO PR claimed the vehicle used a "900V architecture," yet disclosed specifications reveal its 95kWh battery has a nominal voltage of 772.8V — still within the industry's mainstream 800V range, not a true 900V or 1000V system.

Notably, during real-world testing at Zeekr's proprietary 1500kW single-gun ultra-fast charging station, LYNK&CO 10 achieved a peak charging power of 1100kW; at BYD's flash charging station, however, its peak power was only 430kW. This gap underscores the critical importance of coordinated development between infrastructure and vehicle platforms. GEELY has confirmed it is concurrently advancing R&D of both a 1000V vehicle architecture and higher-voltage powertrain systems — designed to fully support future 1500kW-class ultra-fast charging capabilities.

As of March 2026, GEELY Group has built over 2,100 Zeekr-branded single-gun ultra-fast charging stations, each capable of peak output up to 1500kW. While current production vehicles cannot yet utilize this full capacity, this infrastructure rollout is explicitly positioned as strategic preparation for the upcoming 1000V platform. Once the new architecture launches, BEVs are expected to consistently achieve 10%–80% SOC replenishment in under 5.5 minutes — further narrowing the perceived convenience gap between EVs and internal-combustion vehicles in terms of refueling.
