BYD DENZA D9 Launches in the UK: 7-Seat Luxury MPV Starts at £75,000

BYD's premium sub-brand DENZA has officially introduced its first 7-seat luxury MPV — the DENZA D9 — to the UK market, with an official starting price of £75,000 (approx. $101,000), significantly undercutting rivals in the same segment and drawing attention from the UK's premium MPV buyers.

The D9 is DENZA's fourth model launched in the UK, following the Bao 5 SUV, Z9 GT, and Z-series — marking a strategic expansion into the multi-purpose luxury vehicle segment. Pre-orders are now open, offering two trims: Elegance and Ultimate, priced at £75,000 and £85,000 (approx. $115,000), respectively.

Both trims feature DENZA's Super Hybrid dual-mode intelligent AWD powertrain — a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 227 hp (231 PS) front motor and a 60 hp (61 PS) rear motor, backed by a 58.5 kWh battery pack. The all-electric range reaches 130 miles (~209 km), while the engine primarily serves as a generator, enabling a combined range of up to 590 miles (~950 km).

For charging, the D9 supports BYD Flash Charging technology: 10%–70% state-of-charge in just 5 minutes; full 10%–97% charging in 9 minutes; and even at -30°C, 10%–97% replenishment takes only 12 minutes.

The interior features leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, built-in refrigerator/freezer, and a premium custom audio system. Second-row seats integrate LCD armrest displays for independent climate and entertainment control; front seats offer heating, ventilation, and 10-point massage. The center console hosts a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen running Google OS, complemented by a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

The Ultimate trim adds further upgrades: zero-gravity second-row seats (14-way adjustment, 16-point massage, max recline angle of 152°), a 12-inch HUD, a 10.25-inch front passenger entertainment screen, and dual 12.8-inch rear-seat entertainment screens mounted on the back of the front seats.

In terms of space, the D9 adopts a standard 7-seat layout. With all seats occupied, trunk capacity ranges from 430–570 liters; switching to four-seat mode expands maximum cargo volume to 2,310 liters. Though priced above mainstream family MPVs, the D9 delivers clear value versus competitors like Lexus LM — whose hybrid variant starts at £97,600 (approx. $131,500).
