As the high-performance embodiment of Mercedes-Benz’s flagship full-size SUV, the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 has officially debuted with official images. This update is not a standalone model change but a deep integration with the recently facelifted (second-generation mid-cycle refresh) Mercedes-Benz GLS platform—delivering coordinated upgrades across exterior design, interior, chassis, and powertrain to further reinforce its identity as a 'stealthy yet ferocious beast.'

The exterior retains AMG’s signature muscular tension but ditches the all-black theme in favor of a chrome-accented grille and front bumper to emphasize flagship luxury. While it shares the GLS’s star-emblem headlamps, unique dual-star motifs inside the lamps and an exclusive AMG front bumper enhance visual distinction. Chrome trim continues on window surrounds and door handles; 23-inch AMG-specific wheels feature V8 twin-turbo badging, underscoring its elite status. The most noticeable rear change is a new horizontal chrome strip above the taillights, plus standard quad-exit exhausts—clearly differentiating it from the regular GLS.

The interior balances sportiness and luxury: an AMG performance steering wheel features red stitching and dedicated drive-mode buttons; carbon fiber and aluminum trim are paired with red ambient lighting for an immersive cockpit feel. Fully digital instrument and central infotainment displays show real-time torque distribution, G-force data, and engine parameters. A 7-seat layout ensures both family practicality and driving ceremony.
The powertrain is the centerpiece of this update—featuring a newly tuned 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine with a flat-plane crankshaft, optimized intake camshafts, and an upgraded fuel injection system for sharper response. Paired with the second-generation integrated starter-generator (ISG 2.0) and a 48V mild-hybrid system, it delivers an additional 17 kW, bringing total system output to 612 horsepower and 850 N·m of peak torque. The 0–100 km/h sprint takes just 4.2 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 280 km/h.

Chassis technology also sees a comprehensive leap: AMG RIDE CONTROL+ air suspension integrates adaptive damping, while AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL—a system scanning road surfaces up to 1,000 times per second—delivers active roll stabilization for both long-haul comfort and cornering precision. An electronically controlled rear differential lock and variable all-wheel-drive system enable intelligent torque distribution between axles and rear-wheel torque vectoring. Ride height can be raised by up to 20 mm for improved off-road capability. Additionally, the new AMG Performance Exhaust System offers selectable sound modes—from quiet and subdued to loud and exhilarating—at the touch of a button.
