M-Hero M817 Officially Launches: Huawei's Full-Stack Intelligent Driving Enters the Smart Off-Road Segment

Starting at ¥299,900; equipped with Huawei ADS 5.0 and 896-line LiDAR; pure-electric range of 301 km

M-Hero M817 officially launches in 2026, with a manufacturer-suggested retail price of ¥299,900–¥399,900. As M-Hero's all-new model targeting the mainstream hardcore off-road market, its standout feature is the first-ever integration of Huawei's full-stack intelligent vehicle solution — potentially redefining the long-standing trade-off among 'off-road capability,' 'intelligence,' and 'comfort.'

Mechanically, the M817 features an all-aluminum chassis, dual-chamber air suspension, and a bidirectional 20-degree rear-wheel steering system — achieving a turning radius of just 5.2 meters despite its 5.1-meter length. It also supports 'garage mode,' automatically lowering ride height for improved urban maneuverability and daily driving convenience.

Intelligently, the vehicle integrates Huawei's ADS 5.0 advanced driver-assistance system, backed by an 896-line LiDAR and a complete sensor suite. Beyond standard NCA (Navigation-guided Cruise Assist) on paved roads, it extends to unpaved terrain — including off-road NCA, narrow-road passing assistance, and trace-based reverse parking. The HarmonyOS Cockpit 6 Off-Road Edition also incorporates AI-powered Lincoln Navigater, generating personalized route guides based on real-time road conditions to enhance scenario-aware interaction.

The powertrain adopts a 2.0T plug-in hybrid architecture, delivering a combined maximum output of 715 kW, a pure-electric range of 301 km, and a total system range of 1,450 km. Charging leverages an 800V high-voltage platform and 6C ultra-fast charging — recharging from 30% to 80% in just 9.6 minutes.

Interior appointments break new ground for traditional off-roaders: Himiko zero-gravity seats, a 20-speaker Dynaudio audio system, a smart fridge with heating/cooling functions, and a fold-out 2.1-meter sleeping bed — all underscoring its evolution toward a 'family-friendly smart off-roader.'

Industry observers note that the M817 avoids head-to-head competition with rivals like Tank and Leopard on extreme mechanical off-road prowess. Instead, it leverages Huawei's intelligent ecosystem and NEV technology advantages to pioneer the 'smart off-road' niche. Its entry-level price of ¥299,900 could structurally reshape the competitive landscape of the ¥300,000-class hardcore off-road SUV segment.
