STELATOG9 Pre-orders Start at ¥439,800: First Rugged SUV Approved for Beijing L3 Road Testing

The first tech-luxury rugged SUV from STELATO — the STELATOG9 — has officially opened pre-orders, starting at ¥439,800. As the inaugural model in STELATO's G-series, it adopts a boxy silhouette to carve out a niche between 'urban luxury SUVs' and 'traditional rugged off-roaders', aiming to bridge a long-standing capability gap between the two segments.

Its most notable feature is its intelligent driving certification: the STELATOG9 is the first vehicle approved for L3-level autonomous road testing at speeds up to 120 km/h in Beijing city. Equipped with Huawei's latest-generation dual-path 896-line laser radar and three solid-state lidars, plus the ADS 5.0 intelligent driving system, it enables legal hands-off driving on highways. Among production rugged SUVs, no other model has publicly disclosed equivalent L3 road-test approval.

For its powertrain, all variants feature an 800V high-voltage architecture and four-wheel drive. The launch model debuts Huawei's in-house front and rear dual-motor setup, delivering a combined output of 437 kW and sub-4-second 0–100 km/h acceleration. The extended-range version pairs a 1.5T range extender with a 75.4 kWh battery pack, offering over 400 km CLTC all-electric range and over 1,300 km total range; the BEV variant comes standard with a 120 kWh battery pack, achieving a CLTC range of 728 km. Officially, a 10-minute charge adds enough energy for approximately 400 km of driving.

The chassis is built on the all-new Tu Ling Longxing platform, featuring a closed dual-chamber air suspension and CDC electromagnetic dampers. It supports three mechanical differential locks, a 900 mm wading depth, and a factory-rated 2,000 kg towing capacity. Air suspension ride height can be adjusted by +80 mm or −50 mm; approach and departure angles measure 23° and 26°, respectively. Notably, the vehicle uses a unibody structure with an integrated ladder frame — officially positioned for '80% urban + 20% light off-road' use, with extreme off-road capability not its primary focus.

At 5,206 mm long (up to 5,377 mm with optional rear-mounted storage box) and 3,160 mm wheelbase, the STELATOG9 offers both 5- and 6-seat configurations. The 6-seater features independent aviation seats in the second row, complete with ventilation, heating, massage, and powered leg rests. A roof-mounted tent deploys at the push of a button from inside the cabin, and the tailgate integrates an expandable kitchen module — enhancing practicality for camping scenarios.

The interior features a triple-screen layout plus AR-HUD, with HUAWEI HarmonySpace as standard equipment. Notably, physical buttons remain across the roof, center console, and armrest areas — designed to improve tactile operability in demanding conditions like off-roading. This design philosophy reflects a deliberate balance between cutting-edge tech expression and real-world usability logic.

The ¥439,800 pre-order price sits below the previously anticipated ¥500,000 benchmark. Its competitive landscape is distinct: TANK 700 delivers more robust off-road performance but hasn't disclosed its intelligent driving capabilities; Land Rover Defender commands higher brand premium and significantly higher pricing; AITO M9 emphasizes urban comfort and smart interaction but lacks dedicated off-road hardware. The STELATOG9 aims to leverage Huawei's intelligent driving and cockpit technologies as key differentiators — integrating daily commuting, long-distance travel, and light off-roading into one package. Its market success will depend on user feedback following deliveries in H2 2026.
