Freelander 8 Intelligent Cockpit Revealed: 46.3-inch Remote Display + Snapdragon 8397 Chip

Recently, Freelander officially unveiled core intelligent cockpit specifications for its first production model — the Freelander 8. As the flagship vehicle embodying the brand's latest technologies, the cabin adopts a 'yacht-inspired interaction logic' design philosophy and is expected to launch in the second half of 2026.

According to official disclosures, the Freelander 8's center console adopts a split-level, T-shaped bridge control array layout inspired by luxury yacht cockpits. The upper section features a 46.3-inch 8K remote display dedicated to centralized presentation of situational awareness data; the lower section houses a 15.6-inch MINI LED infotainment screen handling primary command interactions. The entire intelligent cockpit is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 chip, delivering a combined computing capacity of 320 TOPS — enabling rapid local large-model invocation and low-latency voice response. Notably, several physical buttons remain beneath the infotainment screen, complemented by the classic three-spoke Land Rover steering wheel and control knobs; the gear selector appears to adopt an electronic column-shift design.

At the vehicle level, the Freelander 8 closely follows the design language of the Concept 97 concept car, blending premium craftsmanship with rugged off-road elements. Exterior color options include five standard hues — Radiant Silver (gloss), Fjord Blue, Overflow Copper, Polar Night Black, and Cloud Peak White — plus three limited editions: Thermal Gold Lemon, Twilight Purple, and Radiant Silver (matte). Dimensions measure 5118 (5185) × 2050 × 1898 mm, with a 3040-mm wheelbase and a standard six-seat configuration. A trailer-towing package is available as an option, supporting a maximum trailer gross weight of 2000 kg.

Powertrain-wise, the Freelander 8 will feature a 1.5T range-extender engine producing a peak output of 115 kW, paired with a 60.331-kWh ternary lithium battery pack offering a CLTC all-electric range of 221 km. For driver assistance, the vehicle will be equipped with a 896-line LiDAR and will come standard with the HUAWEI Qiankun ADS 5 advanced driver-assistance system across all trims. Off-road capability is enhanced by the i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, front mechanical differential lock, rear e-LSD electronic limited-slip differential, virtual center lock, and a closed dual-chamber air suspension.
