BYD Hai Shi 08 Pre-sale Starts at ¥230,000: Dual-Power EV + PHEV Flagship Mid-Size SUV Launching

Equipped with BYD DiSus‑A, Rear-Wheel Steering & Sky Eye 5.0 — BYD's First Mid-Size SUV Targets the ¥250,000 Segment

BYD's flagship mid-size SUV — the Hai Shi 08 — has recently unveiled its pre-sale pricing and announced its official launch on September 2. As a pivotal model for BYD's core brand to ascend into higher segments, the Hai Shi 08 enters the fiercely competitive ¥250,000 mid-size new-energy SUV market with a dual-power strategy (pure electric + plug-in hybrid), flexible 5-/6-seat configurations, and multiple in-house technologies.

According to official information, the Hai Shi 08 DM-i plug-in hybrid version carries a pre-sale price range of ¥230,000–¥260,000, while the EV version is priced at ¥250,000–¥280,000. Positioned as a mid-size SUV, it measures 5115 × 1999 × 1800 mm (L×W×H), with a wheelbase of 3030 mm. Exterior color options include five monochrome finishes — Frost Jade Silver, Sea Mist Purple, Poseidon Green, Obsidian Black, and Starlight Gray — plus two dual-tone schemes: Frost Jade Silver + Poseidon Green, and Frost Jade Silver + Sea Mist Purple. The front 'Glacial Eye' DRLs feature tri-color injection molding and crystal-thick-wall faceted diamond craftsmanship, incorporating nearly 9,000 three-dimensional refractive surfaces; the 1982-mm tidal-gradient taillights echo the Ocean design language, enhancing visual distinctiveness.

Inside, the Hai Shi 08 offers two interior themes — Light Cloud White and Night Purple — and features a 17.3-inch central touchscreen paired with an embedded digital instrument cluster. It includes an enveloping 127-color ambient lighting system and a tiered, three-level auxiliary console storage structure. Seat configurations are comprehensive: driver and front passenger seats offer 8-way power adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. In the 6-seat variant, the right-side second-row seat features zero-gravity positioning and lateral sliding capability; the 5-seat version supports an electric leg rest for the right-side second-row seat. The vehicle provides 53 storage locations across the cabin and seven open-ecosystem expansion interfaces. Rear passengers enjoy a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted display, a 25-speaker Devialet audio system, and Dolby Atmos surround sound; climate control is triple-zone independent (17–33°C), and the built-in refrigerator offers 7.3 L capacity (cooling: −6°C to 15°C; heating: 35°C to 50°C).

Technologically, the Hai Shi 08 integrates BYD's second-generation Blade Battery, the Yun Nian‑A intelligent damping control system, rear-wheel steering, the Sky Eye 5.0 intelligent driving system, and fast charging. The PHEV variant uses a 1.5T engine (max power: 115 kW) and offers two drive configurations: single-motor (200 kW max) and dual-motor (front and rear motors each delivering 200 kW). Its WLTC all-electric range is 275 km / 300 km, with CLTC reaching up to 400 km; total system range stands at 1650 km. The EV version offers three powertrain options: single-motor variants deliver 320 kW or 370 kW; the dual-motor setup pairs a 215 kW front motor with a 370 kW rear motor. Battery capacities are 92.093 kWh and 115.072 kWh, enabling CLTC all-electric ranges of 710 km, 800 km, and 900 km respectively.

In the marketplace, the Hai Shi 08 will directly compete with established rivals such as the IM LS8, Xpeng G9, and WEY V8X. Unlike the premium sub-brand strategies adopted by models like the DENZA and FANG CHENG BAO, the Hai Shi 08 leverages BYD's core brand to target the upper-mid-tier family SUV segment — fulfilling strategic goals including product portfolio expansion, brand value uplift, and validation of BYD's flagship capabilities. Its market performance may significantly influence consumer acceptance of future high-end 'Ocean Series 8' models.
