Alpina Founding Family and Legendary Designer Unveil M5 Touring Custom GT

Bovensiepen 05 GT Debuts: 790 HP, Full-Leather Cabin, Priced at €198,900 in Germany

Though Alpina has exited BMW’s official high-performance lineup, its founding Bovensiepen family remains deeply rooted in the premium performance car segment. In 2026, the family launches its new independent brand—Bovensiepen—in collaboration with Italian design legend Zagato and renowned automotive designer Frank Stephenson, unveiling the custom-built GT based on the BMW M5 Touring: the Bovensiepen 05 GT.

The First Flagship GT After Leaving BMW

In 2022, BMW acquired only Alpina’s trademark rights, while the Bovensiepen family retained all technical assets and engineering capabilities. The family subsequently revived its own Bovensiepen brand, debuting a carbon-fiber coupe project based on the M4 convertible in late 2025. The 05 GT marks its first production-ready touring car—and a signature collaboration between Andreas and Florian Bovensiepen and Frank Stephenson.

The 66-year-old Stephenson led iconic designs including the original BMW X5, MINI R50, Ferrari F430, and McLaren P1. For the 05 GT, he delivered a more restrained, elegant GT character: a metallic front grille, layered rear spoiler, 21-inch forged wheels, and a lightweight Scorpio titanium quad-exhaust system (saving 7.8 kg).

Comfort-Focused Tuning, Elevated Luxury

Unlike the track-focused M5 Touring, the 05 GT is positioned as a ‘luxury GT touring car’. Its chassis features Eibach-custom springs paired with Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires—balancing long-distance composure and cornering grip. The cabin retains the original layout but is fully upholstered in premium leather: hand-wrapped center console, door panels, and seats, with multiple bespoke color schemes available.

Under the hood, Bovensiepen performed deep optimization of the S63B44T4 engine—upgraded intake, reprogrammed ECU, and a bespoke exhaust—yielding 790 hp and 1,100 N·m of peak torque, a significant leap over the stock M5 Touring (635 hp / 750 N·m).

Limited Production, Pricing Reflects Exclusivity

The Bovensiepen 05 GT will begin deliveries in Germany in Q4 2026, starting at €198,900 (approx. ¥1.56 million RMB). This price includes Stephenson-designed bodywork, full-leather interior, bespoke chassis tuning, and powertrain upgrades. As Bovensiepen’s first production GT after independence from BMW, it signifies not just enhanced performance—but the enduring evolution of the Alpina legacy on its own path.
