Recently, BMW officially announced that the new 7 Series has entered mass production at its Dingolfing plant in Germany and is currently ramping up output. Unveiled globally in April 2026, this model is billed by the automaker as the most comprehensively updated generation of the 7 Series in BMW Group history.

The new model fully adopts BMW's latest luxury vehicle design language and features a highly integrated software-hardware electronic architecture. The cabin includes a panoramic all-in-one iDrive infotainment system, a dedicated front-passenger entertainment screen, and an upgraded rear-seat floating mega-screen cinema; its intelligent co-pilot driving system enables seamless coordination between driver inputs and advanced driver-assistance functions.
Powertrain and energy systems see key upgrades: the all-electric i7 xDrive60 will use sixth-generation cylindrical cells (4695), combined with SiC semiconductor technology and dual-excitation motors, delivering a WLTP range of up to 727 km; battery charging from 10% to 80% takes approximately 28 minutes. The gasoline-powered variant retains the fourth-generation B58 inline-six 3.0T engine, now paired with a new turbocharger.

In manufacturing, the new 7 Series shares flexible production lines with the 5 Series and iX, covering internal combustion, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrains. Its paint process introduces a two-tone layered finish — combining matte and high-gloss effects on the same body — achieved entirely via manual masking, spraying, and film removal, merging industrial-scale production with handcrafted precision. Personalization options have also expanded significantly: over 500 exterior color combinations are available, along with nearly 700 interior material and trim configurations.
Pre-orders for the new 7 Series have already begun in Germany, with overseas deliveries scheduled to commence progressively from August 2026. Its official launch date in the Chinese market has not yet been confirmed, though multiple sources indicate it is expected to arrive early in 2027.
