BMW iX3 Orders Near 100,000 Units as Hungary Plant Sets New Production Speed Record

Since its September 2026 launch, BMW iX3 has generated strong market response, with global orders now approaching 100,000 units. To meet demand far exceeding expectations, BMW is scaling up production at an unprecedented pace — the new Debrecen plant in Hungary rolled out its 50,000th iX3 just nine months after launch, setting a new record for the fastest ramp-up at any BMW greenfield facility.

Accelerating Order Fulfillment, Steady Capacity Ramp-Up

According to official BMW figures, the model secured roughly 50,000 orders within its first six months on the market. Oliver Zipse, then CEO of the BMW Group, confirmed this data at the company's annual investor conference in March. Today, total orders are rapidly nearing the 100,000-unit mark. BMW announced this week that the 50,000th iX3 has rolled off the Debrecen production line — where mass production began in June 2026, achieving this milestone in just nine months.

"The rollout of the 50,000th iX3 underscores the exceptional capability of the Debrecen plant: never before have we achieved such high output so quickly at a brand-new facility," said Raymond Wittenberg, BMW Board Member for Production. To maintain delivery momentum, BMW added a second shift at the plant in February 2027.

Sixth-Gen eDrive + 108.7 kWh Battery Deliver Dual Excellence in Range & Charging

The 2027 BMW iX3 is built on BMW's sixth-generation eDrive (Gen6) electric drive architecture and equipped with a 108.7 kWh battery pack. The iX3 50 xDrive variant starts at €73,925 in Germany (approx. RMB 573,000), delivering a WLTP range of up to 805 km; the entry-level iX3 40 starts at €63,400 (approx. RMB 491,000), with a WLTP range of 628 km.

In North America, the 2027 iX3 50 xDrive is now open for pre-order at a starting price of $61,500 (approx. RMB 445,000), with an EPA-estimated range of 434 miles (~698 km). The vehicle supports up to 400 kW DC fast charging, adding up to 373 km (~231 miles) of range in just 10 minutes.

Neue Klasse Debut: Fully Upgraded Intelligent Cockpit

As the first production model on BMW's Neue Klasse platform, the iX3 integrates a completely new design language, software architecture, battery system, and electric drive technology. Its interior adopts the Neue Klasse cockpit layout, featuring a 17.9-inch panoramic iDrive infotainment display and a 43-inch panoramic digital instrument cluster spanning the base of the windshield.

Data shows that since deliveries began in March 2027, the iX3 has quickly become Europe's best-selling pure-electric SUV in its segment — and in April, it surpassed Audi Q4 e-tron in sales volume. BMW plans to launch 40 all-new or facelifted models by end-2027, with the iX3 serving as the strategic cornerstone of this rollout.
