Bentley's First All-Electric SUV Named Torcal, Global Debut in London This September

Built on the PPE platform; to launch in 2027; name inspired by Spain's El Torcal limestone landscape

Bentley has officially unveiled the name of its first all-electric vehicle: Torcal. The model will make its global debut in London on September 26, 2026. As a milestone in the brand's electrification strategy, Torcal will become Bentley's fourth product line — joining the existing Bentley Bentayga, Continental GT, Continental GT convertible, and Bentley Flying Spur.

According to official information, Torcal is built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) — a dedicated EV architecture co-developed by Volkswagen Group, Porsche, and Audi. This platform already underpins the Porsche Macan Electric, Audi Q6 e-tron, and A6 e-tron, and will also serve as the foundation for the next-generation Porsche Cayenne EV. Torcal is positioned as a "city-sized SUV", with a shorter overall length than the current 5125 mm Bentley Bentayga.

Notably, the name "Torcal" draws inspiration from El Torcal de Antequera — a renowned limestone formation in southern Spain famed for its dramatic, layered karst topography. This hints that the new SUV's design language may fuse muscular presence with sculptural textures reminiscent of geological strata. A teaser image of the rear end previously released by Bentley shows a clean, integrated tailgate and slim, honeycomb-patterned taillights — signaling a more minimalist and restrained aesthetic compared to the brand's current combustion-engine models.

Although Bentley's naming announcement on July 6 did not explicitly state "all-electric", the automaker confirmed Torcal will be its first production battery electric vehicle (BEV), slated for market launch in 2027. This move reflects Bentley's measured response to the pace of electrification in the ultra-luxury segment: originally planned for 2026, the launch was postponed after reassessing high-end customers' readiness and acceptance of BEVs.

To prepare for Torcal's production, Bentley has completed a major upgrade of its Crewe headquarters factory in the UK. CEO Frank-Stephane Walliser stated: "Torcal may well be the most thoroughly considered vehicle in Bentley's history."
