Audi S6 e-tron Performance Variant Spy Shots Revealed; RS 6 e-tron Project Cancelled

Recently, a set of spy shots of the Audi S6 e-tron performance variant surfaced online. Widely regarded as the successor to the previously planned RS 6 e-tron project, Audi officially terminated the full-vehicle development program for the RS 6 e-tron in September 2025. As a result, the upcoming S6 e-tron performance variant will become the new benchmark for power and handling within Audi's all-electric S-series lineup.

From the camouflage details, it's clear the new model significantly enhances its sporty character over the standard S6 e-tron: the front end features an exclusive front bumper with lateral air intakes housing horizontal trim elements and vertical air ducts; the grille adopts the high-performance signature honeycomb mesh design; side enhancements include fender vent openings, wider and lower side skirts, large-diameter multi-spoke alloy wheels, and upgraded red high-performance brake calipers — indicating a notably higher-spec braking system than the base model.

The vehicle will be offered in two body styles: the Sportback sedan and the Avant wagon. Both share the same platform, powertrain, and full exterior styling package, differing only in rear-end design. Notably, an Avant test mule was observed with mismatched wheel sizes left-to-right — a common engineering validation practice, not indicative of production configuration.

Rear-end revisions are relatively subtle, though the rear bumper and large rear diffuser have been retuned to optimize high-speed downforce; the roof-mounted spoiler retains the standard version's structure without major changes. No clear interior photos have yet emerged. The cabin is expected to retain the 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.5-inch central infotainment display, with an optional 10.9-inch passenger entertainment screen; a flat-bottom sport steering wheel, highly supportive sport seats, and bespoke performance badging will further reinforce the cockpit's dynamic ambiance.

Powertrain-wise, the current S6 e-tron already features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system and a 100 kWh battery pack, delivering up to 503 hp (543 hp in launch control mode), accelerating from 0–100 km/h in approximately 3.8 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h. Official specifications for this performance variant remain unconfirmed; however, industry insiders speculate its combined maximum output may exceed 600 hp.
