Kalmar Ottawa, a leader in diesel-powered yard tractors for decades, is accelerating its transition to electrification. As global logistics fleets continue to seek to reduce operating costs and mitigate the risks of diesel price fluctuations, the company's newly launched battery-electric T2 EV tractor has officially entered commercial demonstration operation in Canada.
With the support of Transport Canada's "Medium and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicle Incentive Program," Canadian logistics service provider WTC Group has begun deploying multiple Kalmar Ottawa T2 EVs. This model is not a concept demonstrator, but a mass-produced terminal tractor designed for high-intensity port and logistics hub scenarios, aiming to continue the market reputation of the classic T2 diesel version in terms of durability and operational efficiency.
Brad Gordon, Group Maintenance Director at WTC, said: “Innovation has always been at the heart of WTC’s operations. As customer demand for sustainable logistics solutions continues to grow, investing in electric terminal tractors is both a natural choice to improve operational efficiency and a key step in enhancing environmental performance.”
