Владелец Zeekr 9X оказался заблокирован за границей: интеллектуальные функции автомобиля были отключены на 30 часов, вызвав бурные споры в интернете

Recently, a Zeekr 9X owner from China experienced severe limitations to his car's smart functions while crossing the border with Kazakhstan. Key functions, including navigation, the electronic fuel filler flap, and the luggage compartment, were remotely blocked for over 30 hours , sparking widespread public outcry and drawing renewed attention to the limitations of using smart electric vehicles when crossing international borders.

According to the owner, Mr. Liu, he left for a solo trip to Europe on July 8th, and on July 16th, after entering Kazakhstan, a notification about an "incorrect location" suddenly appeared in the car's infotainment system. Shortly thereafter, several intelligent functions unrelated to driving malfunctioned. Mr. Liu noted that he purchased the car six months ago for approximately 500,000 yuan and informed the dealer in advance of his plans to travel abroad, but received no warning about possible system limitations.

On July 23, Zeekr representatives commented on the situation to the Jingji Guancha Bao newspaper: "A check revealed that the system identified the vehicle's location as overseas, which activated a built-in protection mechanism. A pop-up notification window initially appears; if the location status remains unchanged, the system begins continuously displaying a corresponding warning." Officials emphasized that this measure is a common industry practice for anti-theft and regulatory compliance, aimed at complying with international import and export regulations and preventing smuggling or illegal cross-border transportation of vehicles.

Zeekr explicitly stated that this mechanism does not affect the powertrain, braking system, or other key control functions—the vehicle remains fully roadworthy. The fuel filler flap can be physically unlocked by pressing and holding the hazard warning button inside the car for 5 seconds; the charging port flap can also be manually opened by pressing it. After confirming the authenticity of the international trip, the user can receive a one-time authorization code to temporarily lift the restrictions. However, this code is only valid within one country, and the lock may be reactivated when traveling across multiple countries.

Mr. Liu's car has now been verified, and the corresponding system notification has been removed. Zeekr stated that it will continue to improve this policy: "We will improve the cross-border travel experience based on user feedback."

According to statistics, Zeekr delivered 35,169 new vehicles in June 2026, a 111% increase year-on-year; in the first half of the year, deliveries totaled 178,370 units, a 97% year-on-year increase. As a high-tech smart electric vehicle brand within the Geely Group , Zeekr is actively expanding its global presence; this incident also highlights the new challenges associated with the co-option of software and hardware as Chinese smart cars enter international markets.
