On August 19, AUDI-SAIC officially released the interior official images of its all-new mid-size SUV — the ID.ERA 8X. The vehicle will make its world debut at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, opening on August 21. Pricing and launch timing remain unannounced; however, the model is confirmed as a "German-engineered driving flagship SUV," powered by an extended-range powertrain and configured as a five-seater.

The ID.ERA 8X carries forward the digital design language of the ID.ERA 9X. Its cabin features a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a full-digital instrument 'Magic Screen,' Smart Surface door panel displays, and a 15.6-inch 2.5K-resolution dual-screen infotainment system — delivering a highly tech-forward ambiance. The five-seat layout balances spaciousness and practicality, with the automaker highlighting that its trunk capacity outperforms most rivals in the segment.

Exterior styling includes a Horizon Light Wing full-width LED light bar and signature L-shaped DRLs, delivering strong front-end recognition. Headlamps adopt a 'Six-Core High-Energy Grille' architecture — featuring six vertically aligned optical units as the core visual array — and support welcome lighting sequences and status feedback lighting effects. A dedicated Starlight Blue exterior color is also offered.

Dimensions measure 5,020 mm (length) × 1,997 mm (width) × 1,750 mm (height), with a wheelbase of 2,970 mm — clearly positioning it within the mid-size SUV segment. Power comes from a 1.5T range extender paired with a drive motor: the range extender delivers peak output of 105 kW, while the electric motor achieves a maximum power of 220 kW. Two battery options are available — 51.1 kWh and 65.2 kWh — with WLTC all-electric ranges of 260/275 km and 330/345 km respectively. Under CLTC conditions, the 51.1 kWh version offers over 340 km of all-electric range and over 1,400 km of total range, while the 65.2 kWh variant delivers over 400 km of all-electric range and over 1,500 km of total range.

Underpinning the vehicle is the Cloud-Flow Digital Chassis system, managed by the VMC Chassis Intelligence Control Center for millisecond-level holistic dynamic control. Hardware includes dual-chamber air suspension and an Intelligent Road Preview Magic Carpet System, which proactively adjusts damping based on upcoming road conditions to enhance ride quality and comfort.
