Tesla Plans San Francisco's Largest V4 Supercharger Station: 124 Stalls + Micro-Convenience Facility

Located at the Alemany & Bayshore intersection in South San Francisco, serving high-density urban BEV users

Tesla plans to build an unprecedented V4 supercharger station in downtown San Francisco, California. According to San Francisco city planning permit documents, the site is slated for a yellow-taxi storage lot at the intersection of AlemanyDADAO and BayshoreDADAO. It will feature 124 V4 charging stalls and a 400-square-foot (≈37 m²) "micro-convenience building."

The planning details were disclosed by supercharger tracker MarcoRP on X on August 12, 2026. The permit explicitly lists: 124 V4 chargers, associated switchgear, and 28 parking lot light fixtures — all infrastructure designed to support stable operation of this ultra-large urban charging node.

While 124 stalls may be common at highway rest stops, such scale is exceptionally rare in land-scarce, high-cost downtown San Francisco. Currently, nearly all of Tesla's 100+ stall supercharger stations are located along intercity highways (e.g., I-5 between San Francisco and Los Angeles) or low-cost desert areas in California — primarily catering to holiday long-distance travel demand. By contrast, this new site sits adjacent to a US-101 highway exit and embedded within an established residential neighborhood, clearly targeting local high-frequency commuters and users without home charging access.

The permit also details the micro-convenience building's functional layout: two ADA-compliant, gender-neutral restrooms (both equipped with infant changing tables), a central open-plan self-service retail lobby, plus a rear storage room, cleaning equipment storage area, and an IT/security cabinet room. The automated vending system will offer hot beverages from Cotti brand coffee, chilled snacks, and ambient-temperature food items. The exterior façade features white aluminum composite panels, brushed stainless steel, prefabricated metal canopies, and glass storefront doors — delivering a clean, Hyundai aesthetic.

Notably, the station will fully adopt the V4 platform architecture, enabling future integration of 500 kW charging cabinets. Tesla did not activate its first fully rated V4 station until 2025. This 124-stall V4 supercharger project is widely viewed by industry observers as Tesla's long-term strategic bet on urban charging demand across the San Francisco Bay Area — one of the highest Tesla vehicle density regions in the U.S. — over the next decade. Apartment and condominium residents lacking home charging capability represent the core user base for such high-density urban supercharging networks.
