New TANK 300 Launches: From ¥199,800, Dual Powertrain Strategy with ICE and PHEV

On July 19, Great Wall Motors officially launched the new TANK 300, offering five variants with a manufacturer-suggested retail price range of ¥199,800–¥259,800. The model retains its rugged boxy design language and is available in both standard-wheelbase and long-wheelbase (TANK 300L) body styles. For the first time, it features two plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) systems — Hi4-T and Hi4-Z — completing a comprehensive product lineup spanning conventional internal combustion engine (ICE), hardcore off-road PHEV, and light-off-road high-performance PHEV.

Under the hood, the Hi4-T variant uses a non-decoupled four-wheel-drive architecture, with its battery pack mounted in the cargo area — optimized for professional off-road use. It pairs a 130 kW front motor with a 37.1 kWh ternary lithium battery, delivering a system-wide peak output of 310 kW and peak torque of 750 N·m. Its WLTC all-electric range stands at 105 km, with a combined range of 913 km. A 9-speed manual-automatic transmission and mechanical four-wheel drive are standard, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.1 seconds.

The Hi4-Z variant adopts a decoupled four-wheel-drive layout, integrating its battery into the chassis to better serve urban commuting and light-off-road ('light-duty off-road') needs. It features an 180 kW front motor plus a 200 kW rear motor, paired with a 59.6 kWh ternary lithium battery — yielding a system peak output of 560 kW and peak torque of 1,195 N·m. Its WLTC all-electric range reaches 200 km, with a combined range of 1,122 km, and it accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, powered by a 3-speed DHT transmission.

The ICE-powered models retain two core trims: Challenger and Conqueror. The entry-level Challenger trim comes standard with an electronically controlled rear differential lock, highway NOA navigation-assisted driving, and front seat heating — and offers optional front differential lock. The Conqueror trim adds APA automated parking, ANC active noise cancellation, NAPPA leather seats, heated steering wheel, and standard front-and-rear dual differential locks — maximizing off-road hardware capability. A diesel-powered version is also offered, emphasizing low-end torque and fuel efficiency for specialized applications such as long-distance overlanding and RV towing.

Standard equipment across all variants includes a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, remote parking, memory parking, trace-back reverse, full-size spare tire, two 50 W wireless fast chargers for smartphones, and front seat heating — significantly raising the baseline user experience. During the initial sales period, official purchase incentives reach up to ¥33,000, including a ¥6,000 infrared night vision system complimentary with every TANK 300L purchase.
