Genesis GV90 Debuts In-Car Pop-Up 24.6-Inch OLED Cinema Screen

On August 19, Genesis officially unveiled its flagship battery-electric SUV — the GV90 — at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Beyond its attention-grabbing pillarless crescent-arch suicide doors and rotating seats, the GV90 debuts an industry-rare pop-up OLED cinematic display — transforming the cabin into a private luxury cinema.

This screen is Hyundai Automotive Group's first retractable in-vehicle display system — and the first model from the Genesis brand to feature the all-new Pleos Connect infotainment system. When parked, the display expands seamlessly from 23.6 inches to 24.6 inches at the press of a button, automatically entering Media Home mode — supporting third-party apps including Netflix, live TV, and streaming music. While driving, it switches automatically to a driver-focused interface.

Genesis states this design stems from a redefinition of EV usage scenarios: vehicles are evolving from mere transportation tools into mobile living spaces. Development lead Inho Yoon noted the team aimed to "deliver a highly immersive audiovisual experience rivaling that of a professional theater."

To enhance immersion, the GV90 comes standard with a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D audio system integrated with Dolby Atmos technology. It also features a custom-tuned 25-inch AR-HUD that projects critical information — including speed and turn-by-turn navigation — onto the windshield.

The Pleos Connect system has been specially optimized for the GV90: dual independent sidebar menus — one for the driver (focused on navigation, vehicle controls, and climate), the other for passengers (centered on media and apps) — and deep integration with the Gleo AI voice assistant, enabling natural-language interactions such as restaurant searches and news queries. Notably, despite the abundance of large displays, Genesis retains physical buttons for high-frequency functions like climate and media control.

Powertrain-wise, the GV90 is equipped with Hyundai Automotive Group's largest battery pack to date — a 123.5 kWh unit. Official estimates project a CLTC all-electric range of approximately 500 km (310 miles) for the 7-seat variant. Its dimensions measure 5285 × 2030 × 1815 mm, with a wheelbase of 3245 mm — making it wider and more spacious than both the IONIQ 9 and EV9.
